The Ideal Outlet for Your Feel-Good Stories
By Roberta Beach Jacobson in Karpathos, Greece
I’m sure you’re familiar with the book series called Chicken Soup for the Soul… but did you know about Chicken Soup for the Soul Magazine?
It’s a bi-monthly publication that focuses on what’s right with the world. This magazine has the same hallmark, positive outlook of the Chicken Soup books. The editors like to hear from people with stories that inspire and encourage others.
You’ll find in this publication expert advice, humor, food, and travel articles in addition to great “Chicken Soup” stories.
The editors accept contributions from readers as well as from freelance writers.
As a reader, if you have a travel story to share, read the Writer’s Guidelines at:

http://www.chickensoupmagazine.com/default.aspx?pid=19. While the editors love humorous accounts (a road trip gone awry, for instance)… your stories don’t need to be funny. They must, however, be true. Stories can run 500-1000 words. You’ll get $50 for a travel story, and that’s paid on publication.
For reader story submissions, Chris Epting, Travel Editor, prefers if you use the online form at: http://www.chickensoupmagazine.com/default.aspx?pid=36 but you can also submit via snail mail to: Chicken Soup for the Soul Magazine, Attn: Soup Story Submissions, P.O. Box 770458, Memphis, TN 38177.
Before submitting your story via mail, you should note that the editors do not return material, so don’t send your only copy!
If you’re interested in contributing regularly to Chicken Soup for the Soul Magazine, then you should query at the following email address: staff@chickensoupmagazine.com and include a couple of writing samples along with your email.
Spend some time browsing the website, and read some samples stories to get a feel for the positive, upbeat outlook of the articles that appear in this publication.
