Slow down, 2017!

Here we are, at the start of the 4th quarter of the year. How are you doing on your progress towards your photography goals?

My goals for 2017 are:

  1. Build a stock photo portfolio on Alamy
  2. Get published in a few travel magazines

Last time we caught up… I had started a portfolio and added about 60 photos to Alamy, and published one story in online magazine WAVEJourney.

My next goals were to add 100 more photos to Alamy and to pitch 5 new articles to print magazines by October 1.

But I did none of that!

Instead, I picked up a few big photo gigs for headshot clients, my old high school, a preschool, and of course shot over 60 headshots at our Ultimate Travel Writer’s Workshop.

While I’ve been busy and successful over the past few months, it’s still a let-down when you don’t reach a goal that you set for yourself.

If this happens to you (and it happens to all of us) don’t let those goals drop. Instead, refocus and ask:

  1. Are these still the goals I want? Should I adjust them?
  2. What can I do to make more time for my goals?

Then get back to business!

I’m simply going to continue toward the same goals, but now my “achieve by” date is December 31.
