We’ve been talking a lot about photography over the last few weeks and about how to sell your images to online stock photo agencies.  But I’d be doing you a huge disservice if I continued to talk about stock as if it were the only place to sell your photos. A lot of our success stories and thank you emails come from readers and program members who have sold their photos to magazines — often accompanying travel stories. So I’d like to switch gears this week and start talking more about that. (Note: Still interested in stock?  Sign up for our Breakfast Stock Club newsletter and receive weekly tips about breaking into online stock agencies, here.  It’s free). The great thing about landing your photos and articles in publications is that you can quickly set yourself up to cash in on all sorts of great perks — like discounted (or even free) hotel stays and VIP passes that get you into all sorts of places, from zoos to museums to botanical gardens. And so to get you thinking about “travel” photos and ideas — to get those creative juices flowing — I thought we’d lead up to Monday’s Memorial Day holiday with a series of travel tips. AAA predicts this Memorial Day holiday will be more traveled than last because of the improved economy and the extra-long winter that kept everyone inside. So I’ll send you travel tips all week, now through Monday.  Starting with today’s packing travel tip for those packing light to avoid extra baggage fees at the airport — here you go… ********************* May 25, 2010 The Right Way to Travel Memorial Day Travel Tips – #1:  Pack Paper (Paper Shampoo, Soap and Shaving Cream, That Is) ********************* With airlines tightening up on weight and liquid allowances (and travelers trying to squeeze five days worth of clothes into a small carry-on to avoid checking a bag), it’s good to know that a lot of your traditionally-packed liquid items are also available in dissolving paper strips.
