Did you take 100 new stock photos this week?

June’s “Summer Sprints” theme is “Mobile Stock Photography.” If you didn’t take 100 new stock photos with your phone over the course of the week, get out there.

The more you shoot this summer, the more you’ll improve, and the more saleable photos you’ll be able to add to your portfolio before the buying season comes this fall.

Premium Members: Today is your Week One deadline, so get your one best “Mobile Stock” shot in for reviews!

Last week we talked about the kinds of mobile phone photos that buyers want. If you missed that issue, read it here.

Premium Members have all kinds of tips for taking stock photos with their phones in their Mobile Stock Roadmap. Sign up to be a Premium Member and get access to ALL the past Roadmaps… plus two photo reviews per month during June, July, and August, here.

In the meantime, here are three tips for taking stock-worthy photos with your phone while you’re out and about this week:

  1. Learn to anticipate moments. Phones are easy to carry and have at the ready. However, it still takes a sharp eye to notice when something special is about to happen. If someone’s about to blow out the candles… reuniting after a big trip… or even just firing up the grill for a nice dinner… have that phone at the ready.
  2. Don’t forget about composition. Just because it’s easy to take snapshots with a mobile device doesn’t mean you should forget about composition. It’s just as important as if you were shooting with a DSLR.
  3. Learn your gear. Just as you would with your big camera, take the time to figure out how your phone’s camera app works. You’ll most likely discover settings that will give you greater control over the end result.

Last but not least, remember that the most successful shots will be the ones with visual impact — the ones that represent an idea, and create strong emotions for the viewer. If you can do that, it really doesn’t matter what type of camera you use.

Now go get it!
