May is officially Physical Fitness Month.  Which means that the education world (at least here in the U.S.) celebrates national physical fitness and sport. With this and the upcoming controversial Summer Olympics in Beijing taking top slots in the news these days, I thought we could turn our creative attention to sport — hence this month’s theme: Game On!

This is a fairly broad subject, and I intentionally want to leave the door open to interpretation since not all of us are “sports-minded.”  For this theme you can photograph anything that you think represents physical fitness and/or sport. Think about getting in shape, training, kids’ sports teams, sports equipment, your favorite sport to play or to watch, unique sports, sports in other countries, etc.  Don’t be afraid to think and photograph as literally or creatively as you like.  And, most of all, have fun.

While you’re taking sport-related shots to submit to the Monthly Photo Challenge, think about ways you could make them into stock shots, too.  On sites like iStockphoto.com, you’ll find plenty of high-selling sport-themed photos.  Take a look around the site to see what kinds of things are selling, here: istock.com.

Submissions for May’s challenge are due by 8:00 a.m. EST on Monday, May 26.  You can submit your photos by clicking on the “This Month’s Theme” tab on our website: www.thephotographerslife.com.
