There’s something really special about traveling around the world with people who share the same interests.  We always have something to talk about, we laugh hard, and sometimes it’s those memories that end up being our favorite part of the trip.

Last year in Tanzania, for example, we got rained in one night and ended up drinking far too much wine.

We went around the table asking everyone about something from their past and it was not only interesting to hear that we had so much in common… it was interesting to hear that our born-and-raised African guides had so much in common with us, too.

It just goes to show that people are essentially the same around the world and that some things are just universal truths about love, family, and human intention — regardless of your age, race, family structure, and upbringing.

This is one of my favorite shots from Seoul, South Korea, where we learned Korean drinking games (one of the only times a teenager is allowed to speak freely to their parents is when they drink together as a family and play these games)…

Or this one from our trip to Panama where we squished into a small prop plane to visit the San Blas islands (we ended up accidentally attending a traditional wedding ceremony as the guests of honor!)…

I always ask myself if the trip will change me as a person before I book it.

If it won’t, I don’t see the point in taking a group there.  I can see gorgeous photos of landmarks with a simple Google search.  And cheap tours are a dime-a-dozen if I want to eat stale bagels for breakfast and see the town through a bus window and t-shirt shop.

But watching the sunrise over the red sand dunes in the Namib desert – that’s an experience that will mark you. An experience so beautiful and awe-inspiring, it’s hard not to cry. If you’d like to take a life-changing trip like this, you’re in the right place.
