I’ve always dreamed of going to Yosemite National Park and seeing the sights that inspired Ansel Adams and John Muir.
Also on my list of adventures was San Francisco and Monterey Bay. In November 2012, I was injured on my job and became housebound.
With limited mobility and some extra time on my hands, a good friend told me about microgigs and one site in particular where I could make money online from home. I decided to create a few gigs and see if I could bring in some extra cash on the side.
The gigs I decided to create are simple and easy to deliver. My primary gigs are video testimonials, book reviews, and a special report revealing the secret for getting the lowest price on any product.
My video testimonials only take a few minutes to record and edit. And the best part is the scripts are provided by my customers. The video testimonials are used to promote products, services, and sometimes a combination of the two.
I also offer to extend the length of the video testimonials or record them in HD quality for an additional fee.
After just six months of fulfilling microgigs on the side, I had earned more than $1,500! With this extra money in the bank and my injury healed, I decided to start planning my dream trip.
In August 2013, I bought my tickets to San Francisco. The day after I arrived, my friend took me to Fisherman’s Wharf. I took a tourist boat around the bay, under the Golden Gate Bridge, around Alcatraz prison, and along the beautiful shoreline. This was one of the most exciting adventures of my life, and porpoises accompanied us most of the way, along with a squadron of gulls and pelicans.
The next day I rented a car and drove to Yosemite National Park. The view of the Yosemite Valley was absolutely astounding. Half Dome and El Capitan looked like something out of a dream. I spent the rest of the day driving through the Valley, stopping to photograph everything that caught my eye.
I finished my escapade by visiting the Mariposa Grove of giant sequoia trees.
In the morning, I reluctantly returned up the coast to San Jose to close out my once in a lifetime adventure. I’m so grateful for discovering the microgig economy and market. Now I’m able to work anytime, anywhere….doing stuff I love to do.
