How many times have you walked into a store in your hometown, only to stumble on a product (a bag, a sweater, or a silk scarf, perhaps) that’s identical to one you saw on your travels — but marked up at five times the price!

It happens to me all the time. And, it drives me nuts…

First, because I may not have thought to snag that bargain on my trip.

Second, because I realize I’ve missed out on a bigger opportunity, too…

An opportunity to bring home enough of this kind of stuff to start my own little import/export business. After all, things are often cheap abroad — and there’s a lot of room for profit.

But, you know how it is when you travel… Sometimes there’s barely enough time to think about what to buy for yourself, let alone bring home and sell.

Luckily, you don’t have to leave home to make money this way. And, it won’t take up much of your time, either.

We’ll talk more about how it’s done tomorrow — along with a little story about flying alarm clocks.

Meantime, I’d love to hear about your own experiences…

Have you ever spotted something in a local store that you once saw in another country for much cheaper? What was it? Did you end up bringing it home or is it still sitting in the market?

And, even if it’s not something you’ve seen while traveling, what type of product would you like to find at a rock-bottom price, that you could sell for a profit back home? (My husband dreams of importing aviation headsets because they’re so expensive here but likely cheap to manufacture overseas. And me? I like scarves and kid toys.)

Go ahead and share your thoughts below. It’s just for some fun — and I hope to share some reader feedback later this week.

I look forward to hearing from you.
