Join our experts in person, and in just three days, I guarantee: You’ll not only have a wonderful time… but you’ll come away with the skills you need to sell your images to magazines, newspapers, online stock agencies, and photo buyers around the world. You’ll even walk away with some of the photos you need to get started, right there in your hands. Join us at The Ultimate Photographer’s Workshop and you’ll:
  • See why photography is one of the best-paying, most rewarding ways to make money on the internet – something you can do for fun, on your own schedule, and without a big investment in gear.
  • The one thing other photography courses never tell you – it’s not the prettiest pictures that sell. Great photos go unsold every day while ugly photos sell in droves. Discover what you need to know about this ginormous photography marketplace and how to cash in by selling simple, easy-to-shoot photos.
  • Learn the single, easy, lucrative secret to selling your images online. You don’t do ANY marketing. They sell themselves 24 hours a day, even while you sleep. And they can be photos of anything from your houseplant to the Eiffel Tower.
  • Learn about Lifestyle design: How to balance time and money so you’re earning the most from the least amount of work.
  • Get the fast, simple formula to attract more buyers, almost magnetically. It’s all in how you describe your images. We’ll hand you the “keywording tool” that works like magic. It’s fast. It’s easy. And it’s automatic.
  • Find out how to sell simple travel photographs to magazines and newspapers. You decide where you want to go – getting spa treatments in Bali, skiing in Utah, shopping in Paris – and we’ll show you how to turn pictures from your trip into money in your pocket.
  • Come away with the know-how to create photos you can sell the very next day. Try your hand at travel photography and spend a half-day out and about “on assignment” while you explore the neighborhoods and attractions of Alexandria. You’ll learn exactly what it takes to create saleable images and how to sell them—a proven system you can replicate on your own when you return home.
  • Get real-time feedback on your photos in our group review sessions. You’ll quickly see from our team of professional photographers and photo editors exactly what makes for a good photograph. You’ll find out why those glossy magazine photos always look so stunning and how you can tweak yours to have the same effect.
  • Find out how your hometown, your pets, your kids, your vacations, even the weather in your hometown can all be photo goldmines. And discover how (even in your spare time) you can take $200 – $700 photographs right in your own back yard.
  • Learn where to start: Discover what photo buyers want from beginner photographers like you. Skip the “guessing game” of what buyers want, save time, and find out exactly how to succeed from the get-go.
Join us in Alexandria this coming spring, and you’ll learn not just everything you need to get started… but everything you need to set yourself up on a path to success for a photographer’s lifetime of freedom, adventure, and profits, including…
  • The skills you need to take saleable photos, even if you’re just starting out and don’t know what all the buttons on your camera do…
  • Hands-on experience, with the opportunity to learn one-on-one with our photography experts. This is great for beginners and experienced photographers alike…
  • A proven income plan, with specific steps you can follow and no guesswork

Activity Level: Low.

Our meetings take place in conference rooms at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites in Old Town Alexandria

Prerequisites:

There are no prerequisites for this workshop. This workshop is for people of all skill levels and experience and the concepts discussed are doable by anyone.

Instructors:

Shelly Perry, from Portland, Oregon, specializes in stock photography. Her images have been seen all over the globe on music CD covers, books, magazines, catalogs, websites, ad campaigns, and even on TV. Two thirds of our photography success stories are thanks to Shelly. Now she’s back by popular demand… Shelly earns more money in online stock agencies with a small portfolio than others earn with their very large collections of images, Shelly will tell you her secret for getting the most bang for your buck and why you should avoid wasting your time on images that won’t sell. Daniel Nahabedian is a freelance travel and cultural photographer. In 2008, Daniel bought his first camera and within one year became a full-time photographer. Currently living in Granada, Spain, Daniel speaks five languages and has lived all over the world including France and Thailand. His work has appeared in Travel+EscapeAsiaRoomsSmithsonian magazine, National Geographic website, Matador Network and more. In Alexandria, he’ll talk about his journey from no-income photographer to travel photographer and show you how to do the same. If you aren’t sure you have what it takes to really make a go of photography… Daniel has been there and knows exactly the advice and skills you need to pick up. He’s also known for his amazing way of creating magic with light—and he’ll take to the main stage to teach you how to do the same this year. Bonnie Caton is the creator of the Breakfast Stock Club. She started as a writer wanting to take photos to accompany her travel articles but today she sells more photos than she does articles. And because she was in your shoes just four years ago, she knows exactly what kinds of lessons you need – how to be a scaredy-cat photographer and still make a sale… how to understand light and your camera… the easiest way to learn it all in a single weekend… and more. She’s got a secret for pulling in $500 a day (or more) from your photography—and she’ll show you how she’s used that secret to earn $10,000 from photography in the last 12 months – this income was earned in her spare time, since she already has a full-time job here at Great Escape Publishing! Joe Sindorf is an award-winning photographer and international humanitarian filmmaker who has worked in more than 75 nations of the world. His work normally takes him to places where people are at their worst — in the aftermath of major natural disasters; surviving famine or drought; and suffering intense injustice. His still photographs have been published in National Geographic Traveler, Outside, American Photo, World and Professional Photographer among others. His video work has won international film festivals, the NATAS Emmy Award, the George Foster Peabody Award (commonly referred to as the Pulitzer Prize for Television) and others. Joe is currently earning 14 times more income from his video stock footage than he is from his stills of exactly the same scene. He’ll show you exactly how that’s done, so you can work on collecting video clips with your camera or smartphone in addition to still photographs. And many more…

THE WORKSHOP INCLUDES:

  • Three full days of info-packed sessions in the classroom, out in the field, and in photo review sessions.
  • Marketing advice from professional photographers like Shelly Perry, Bonnie Caton, Daniel Nahabedian, Joe Sindorf, and others.
  • Special cocktail parties each night where you’ll have a chance to meet and mingle with the experts and your fellow photographers.
  • Hands-on photo and video shooting out-and-about in Alexandria… no experience required.
  • Group photo review sessions where you’ll get feedback on your work from professionals in the field.
  • Marketing advice about where and how to sell your photos for fun income.
  • A special group lunch (on us!) on the last day of the workshop.
  • Personal assistance throughout the program from our staff.
  • Hot breakfast and coffee breaks daily.
  • Lifetime access to workshop presentations from every class session, so that you can review what you learn in your favorite chair at home.
  • Lifetime access to a private Facebook group where you can ask questions, share travel plans, meet one another before the event, and stay connected post-event… (some attendees have said access to this group after the event is worth the entire cost of the workshop!)
  • Pre-event guidance from Great Escape Publishing Staff including what to expect, what to pack for the weather, equipment list, and travel tips.
  • And more…

The workshop does NOT include:

  • Air travel to and from Alexandria, VA

April 12 – 14, 2019
St. Louis, MO
$1,997

This spring… Take a three-day vacation and return home with the skills you need to be a money-making photographer

Announcing:

The Ultimate Photographer’s Workshop

St. Louis, Missouri | April 12-14, 2019

Dear Photographer,

If you’ve ever dreamed of turning your passion for photography into a lifestyle…

If you long for the freedom to set your own hours… travel whenever you please… and wake up every morning LOVING what you do…

… and if you want to do all of this AND make a good income… then join us in St. Louis, this coming April 12-14, for the best, most efficient, most fun way to start living the photographer’s life.

If you can take pictures like these…

© Amy Muschik. This photo was taken at a Great Escape Publishing pet photography workshop. Royalties have been $800 so far.

© Theresa St. John. This simple image of a diner booth has earned $280 and counting.

© Wayne Hoover. Wayne sold a set of fine art photos (including this one) for $500 a pop, bringing in a total of $2000.

You could easily…

  • Travel to places you’ve only dreamed of… and let your photo royalties foot the bill…
  • Turn a hard drive full of images gathering dust on your computer into spare cash…
  • See your photos on the cover or inside pages of a glossy magazine…
  • Earn a couple hundred to a few thousand dollars for your vacation and hometown photographs…
  • Build a steady stream of passive income from your photos that will pay your bills or fund your retirement…

Essentially, you’ll walk in with your notebook and a camera. And walk out with everything you need to turn your photos into paychecks.

You Can Do This!

Even if you’ve only ever taken snapshots of family and friends…

You’ll be surprised how easy and flexible it can be to turn photography into a rewarding income… once you know a few tricks of the trade.

If you’re looking for a full-time gig, you can treat it that way. Or this can easily be something you do to make money on the side – on weekends or only when you travel.

It’s not the prettiest pictures that sell… It’s the photos that meet a need

You don’t have to be a gifted photographer or own the fanciest equipment—you just need to know who’s buying and what types of photos they want to buy.

Lisa Top spent a few minutes running around the house taking pictures of oddities (gopher mounds, termite droppings, dry rot) anything that could be considered “pesty”. She figured insurance and pest control companies might need photos like these.

And she was right!

She recently wrote to tell me that her photo of termite droppings is now her best seller online.

Kristen Bentz attended this workshop in Phoenix, AZ several years ago and soon after used her new skills to sell her photos locally. Today she’s making a name for herself with her dramatic weather and storm images like this one:

Kristen Bentz has sold this photo multiple times for an upwards of $2,500
earning her a total of $8,000 for this single image.

But what’s really great for Kristen is that she’s having a blast. She’s doing something she’d gladly do for free in her spare time anyway. The only difference now is that she’s making money from it.

She told us that her camera put an extra $30,000 into her bank account last year. And she’s not alone…

Colleen Bessell attended our workshop and is now selling her photos as fine art on a tiny island off the coast of Vancouver. She sets up a booth at her local art fair where she displays bright color photos that she’s turned into digital watercolors.

Colleen took this quick snap while at a wedding and it’s gone on to earn her $750 so far! All told she earned a cool $3,000 last summer selling photo prints at her booth.

Patrick S. in Colorado isn’t a professional photographer either – though he always took photos on vacation and, like most parents, lots of pictures of his kids. One day, out at a nearby park with the family, he had his camera in tow and started taking a few shots… shots he then sold to an airline in-flight magazine.

He was hooked. Everyplace is a destination for somebody, after all… and these photos were designed to entice vacationers to come to his hometown. The best part? The first collection of shots he sold earned him $450. And then he did it again to the tune of $800. And then again for $1,300!

And you may have heard me talk about Danny Warren before.

Danny is the proud father of two beautiful children. He has a full-time job as an information technology specialist. Photography is just a hobby for Danny. And since time isn’t something he has a lot of (along with sleep), Danny’s grateful that his income is coming from something he’s doing anyway – taking pictures.

His photos are in an online stock agency where they sell without any extra work on his part. It’s a passive income (enough to pay the mortgage on his new house) that comes in whether he’s sleeping, changing diapers, or hard at work as an information technology specialist.

Not one of these folks had any formal training as a photographer. They simply learned a few tricks behind creating a good photograph and who to sell it to… and next thing you know, they’d turned a fun photo hobby into a viable income stream. An income they can take with them anywhere in the world – whether they do it full-time, part-time, or even just on vacation.

“Starting out as a beginner, receiving feedback has been a key factor in allowing me to learn and grow as a photographer. This photo of the new cathedral in Cuenca, Ecuador has sold for $78 and $73 to a travel site for a banner on their website, plus another $35 in other stock photo sales. I love seeing my photos used by high profile brands and websites, and I know that would not have been possible without the valuable feedback that guided my improvement.” – Amy Muschik

Beginners Welcome:

Discover how fun and easy it can be to
turn your photos into cash…

This coming spring in St. Louis (at the BEST and ONLY Ultimate Photographer’s event in 2019), with our experts by your side, you’ll see how you can turn your spare time into money-making time – and have fun doing it. Even if all you’ve ever done is take vacation snapshots and pictures at family holiday time.

It doesn’t take any special equipment. Or years of experience. In fact, if you can snap simple photographs like these, you can do it…

© Theresa St. John. This image has sold as both stock and fine art, earning a total of $420.

© Amy Muschik. This image has now earned her more than $1,000.

© Lisa Top. Lisa sold these three together printed on metal for $750!

© Shelly Perry. This photo is part of a series that has already earned more than $1,000.

There’s not much competition… and we’ve got two experts on board to show you exactly how it’s done.

“This workshop changed my life — or at least the direction it was going in. My biggest fear was dying before I actually had a chance to live. You gave me hope, confidence and skills all at the same time. I’ve been to Ireland, Washington D.C., and just last month, Fiji, thanks to these events. I’m, of course, doing all the ‘hard’ work of taking photos. But you opened my eyes to the possibilities and I’m forever grateful.”

— Theresa St John

“I never thought I’d be a photographer. I was actually more interested in writing than I was photography. Now look – my last print just sold for $1,500 and I’m having so much fun with it. I keep telling everyone: Just try it. You’ll never know if you like it unless you try it.”

— Wayne Hoover

Get paid to have FUN!

If you’d like to set your own hours… travel when you please… wake up every morning loving what you do, then you absolutely have to join us at this year’s event.

You’re not alone. And the folks who have joined us in the past will tell you they’re happier, healthier, and more successful because they did.

There’s something very rewarding about seeing your photos in a magazine. Something very cool about walking into Bed Bath & Beyond or another department store and seeing your photo in a picture frame on the shelf.

I’m telling you…

I’ve literally stood next to a photo of me on the shelf at Bed Bath & Beyond, taken by professional stock photographer Shelly Perry whom you’ll meet in St. Louis, and just waited for someone to pass by so I could point out that it’s me inside the picture frame.

And my grandmother is as proud as punch, too. She found a picture of me at Walgreens in Florida while shopping with a friend. “That’s my granddaughter,” she told her friend. And together they bought every frame on the shelf!

What if that were your photo?

“I just have to share this. Prior to attending my first photography workshop, I did not know what ISO or F-stop were. I am therefore thrilled every time one of my stock photos shows up somewhere cool. A few months ago one was shown on the tonight show with Jimmy Fallon, and today one showed up on a syndicated column that appeared in all online Sun media newspapers across Canada.”

— Workshop attendee Amy Muschik

Jump-start your successful new life

“Although I’m only just breaking into the industry, I’ve never been happier, working on my own schedule and earning money doing what I love. My income doesn’t support me yet, but it certainly helps toward paying for some of my trips and it makes living in Guatemala (or anywhere!) and traveling a much more enjoyable and fulfilling experience.”

— Lucy Brown

Lucy Brown dreamed of being a travel photographer and writer before she attended this same workshop that’s coming up in St. Louis. But she always thought it was too competitive and way beyond her experience and capabilities. She was an English teacher, she told herself. Not a photographer.

No Experience Needed

“Lots of good information and the workshops were appropriate for beginners. I was afraid I would be overwhelmed but I was not. The Great Escape Publishing folks are terrific – very approachable and helpful.” – Kathleen Preston

“I needed this. This is a workshop for people who know they want to make money with photography but don’t know where to begin. The team of presenters not only show you how to get started but also give you the confidence to start taking the first steps.” – Joan Lyons

But after attending The Ultimate Photographer’s Workshop, Lucy said…

“Other than offering me invaluable advice and tips, it opened my eyes to the fact that with motivation and perseverance the inexperienced could also break into the industry. Now I’ve had a number of articles and photos published in International Living’s magazine and on their website – and gotten paid for them, too.

“As well as the obvious financial benefits, it’s extremely rewarding to see my photos and writing in print.

“I’ve also become much more observant. Now I walk around looking at the world with the eyes of a photographer and writer (whether I’m at home or traveling), picking up leaflets and rarely leaving home without my camera. I feel like I have a purpose wherever I go, always looking for a story to tell with photos and words and delving much deeper into the local culture than I would have before.”

And Lucy’s not the only one to get her start this way. In fact, over the years we’ve shared the secrets to success with thousands of readers just like you.

“I felt that I got every penny’s worth from this. You guys thought of everything. Very impressive!”

– Karen Ballard

“The value is excellent. I can’t imagine a better way to jump-start a career, such sincere, energetic, qualified, and friendly lecturers, along with presentations by real-world regular people with inspiring and attainable success stories.”

Meet Wayne Hoover:

Here’s another participant turned photographer, Cheryl Bigman:

You’ll meet some of these folks in person this coming spring.

Meanwhile, here’s what previous participants have to say…

Our speakers earn rave reviews

“This is truly the best workshop I have ever attended! The speakers, the energy, the attendees, the GEP staff made it fun, educational, engaging – and did I mention fun? I learned so much and met people I will remain friends with.” – Lisa Bennet

It’s just amazing how much knowledge you have passed on in such a short time, I really feel this workshop has given me the tools to ‘renovate’ my life and what I do for a living” – Rolando Munari

“I picked up a lot of really good information that I will be able to actually use… and right away!” – Dore Terada

“What I like most about this workshop is the confidence I’m leaving with! And the tools to reach my goals… also the opportunity to share fears, ideas and knowledge with other attendees.” – Patty Goodin

“Shelly’s relaxed style and the amount of technical expertise in all aspects of working with microstock photography was such a blessing! I felt she gave us so much – the real inside story – and how to succeed. She’s organized and takes the intimidation out of considering pursuing a dream like this.” – Roni Java

“You can’t beat Great Publishing for the best presentations. You get a full view of the entire fields of photography and travel writing with terrific presenters and a great staff helping you every step of the way.” – Kathleen Pacheco

“I feel these are the best workshops for photography, as you really get all the info needed to actually go out and start whatever kind of photo business you want. Nothing is off limits, or ‘insider secrets,’ and each presenter is so open and honest. Also, there is always plenty of food and drinks.” – Lynn Michels

Lots of bang for the buck. Excellent instructors, well designed programs…” – Diane Simpson

Harrison Lee told us he’s now earned more than $3,000 selling photos with his travel articles.

Troy Nelson came to the workshop, followed our 10-Day Success Plan when he got home, and told me he quickly made $1,500! He loves taking storm photos, as well as pattern and texture photos of his fossil and mineral collection that he sells online…

Kim Bechthold turned her photos into an extra $993 when she put them into an online stock agency. And now that she’s moved overseas to Costa Rica, her photos continue to sell even though she’s stopped uploading more to her portfolio.

James Kao attended this workshop and has since had many photos published in magazines. A recent photo of his was published as a two-page spread in Hawaiian Airlines Hana Hou magazine and earned him $600. He’s also entered several photo contests—one of which earned him $6,000!

Lisa Norrgard sold at least 20 canvas prints within months, with prices ranging from $225 to $375 each.

Caroline Maryan entered five of her photos in an exhibition for emerging artists in Seoul, South Korea where she lived at the time. Three of them sold. Two for $500 each and $600 for the third.

Leslie Ehrin sold hers to a textbook for nearly $30,000. (Note: Not everyone can expect this. Wow!)

Marylinda Ramos got $500 from her cover image and story in a sailing magazine.

Wayne Hoover sold a set of fine art photos for $1,500.

© Wayne Hoover. This photo sold
along with two others in a set for a total of $1,500.

© Theresa St. John. Royalties and fine art sales total nearly $600.

Valerie Leroyer sold hers to the city hall for $200. Sue Henderson sold one photo three times for a total of $900.

Steve Collender got into stock photography when he lost his job at the airlines after 9-11. “If I earn enough to pay the electric bill,” he thought, “I’d be happy with that.” But soon his photo royalties paid not just the electric bill but also the phone and gas bill. Then they were enough to pay the car payment and eventually the mortgage.

Tim Napp photographed his cat for Friskies Cat Food and the Carnation Company and won $5,000 and a trip to Los Angeles, CA.

Beverly Shook puts her nature and still life prints in calendars and has made almost $1,000 so far.

Stephanie Wolden takes pictures of vineyards, expensive wine bottles, and winery events in her Napa hometown and has made more than $10,000 so far.

Diane Watson was invited to exhibit her work in a local gallery for Atlanta Celebrates Photography. She received $300 for one photo and $150 to $200 for others.

Stories like these continue to roll in – from around the country and around the world. People selling their photos in lots of different ways… working when and where suits them… and getting paid for what they love to do already…

And now we’d like to add your story, too.

This is our BIGGEST (and ONLY) Ultimate Photographer’s Event of 2019!

It’s the only time you’ll get access to so many experts all in one place—all ready to lend a hand to beginners.

This April in St. Louis, you’ll get real “boots on the ground” advice from experts who are making it happen themselves. They’re all approachable and generous with their time and expertise. They firmly believe that anybody – armed with the right secrets and a commitment to use them – can turn his or her photos into cash.

You’ll hear from…

Shelly Perry, from Portland, Oregon, specializes in stock photography. Her images have been seen all over the globe on music CD covers, books, magazines, catalogs, websites, ad campaigns, and even on TV. Two thirds of our photography success stories are thanks to Shelly. Now she’s back by popular demand…

Shelly earns more money in online stock agencies with a small portfolio than others earn with their very large collections of images, Shelly will tell you her secret for getting the most bang for your buck and why you should avoid wasting your time on images that won’t sell.

Jad Davenport spent a decade as a war photographer covering wars and genocides. Now, he’s an author, photographer, and filmmaker, and his work has appeared in National Geographic magazines and books, IslandsCoastal LivingPBSNBCVanity FairOutsideMen’s JournalConde NastTravel + Leisure, and others. He’s also a member of the Explorers Club in New York, and a photography workshop and expedition leader at National Geographic Creative.

This spring, Jad will be taking the stage in St. Louis to share the wisdom of his experience from leading international travel and wildlife photography journeys. This may inspire you to get out on your own adventures – and to make a nice profit from your travel photos along the way.

In St. Louis, he’ll talk about his journey from no-income photographer to travel photographer and show you how to do the same.

Nigel Danson founded and had been growing a software company from nothing to over 150 people… that is, until a horrific car accident changed the course of his life. Now, a stressful life is no longer an option, and he had to switch gears – but that series of events led him to find his passion.

Now, Nigel feels lucky that he makes a good living doing something he loves – landscape photography, capturing breathtaking scenery in beautiful locations. Circumstances forced him to step outside of what he thought was possible and find an enjoyable – but lucrative – alternative to his former “fast-paced” lifestyle. He’s going to share his process for creating saleable landscape photos, including a brand-new marketing method that’s unique, simple, and effective.

Joe Sindorf is an award-winning photographer and international humanitarian filmmaker who has worked in more than 75 nations of the world. His work normally takes him to places where people are at their worst — in the aftermath of major natural disasters; surviving famine or drought; and suffering intense injustice. His still photographs have been published in National Geographic Traveler, Outside, American Photo, Worldand Professional Photographer among others.

Our presenters will reveal “tricks of the trade” to take more saleable images. They’re all ready to generously share their wisdom, tips, and insider secrets, both on the stage and in the halls, with anyone who asks.

There’s no doubt – getting paid to take pictures no matter where you are is a great lifestyle.

You’ll get the details on where to sell travel images, including stock photos, editorial, and fine art.

But they’ll also show you how to score free stuff and enjoy perks along the way – things like free stays and access to places only photographers are usually allowed.

There is no substitute for the hands-on experience you’ll gain from our team of professional photographers.

You’ll get…

  • A full rundown of the latest photography tool that’s in high demand (but without much competition yet).
  • The first, second, and third steps to take to earn money with your photography this year – even if you have zero experience…
  • Advice on what kind of camera to buy – spoiler: It’s not the biggest, most expensive models…
  • The secret behind a $20,000 photograph: How one photo taken in your hometown can add up to $20,000 in sales, even as a beginner…
  • The simple headshot formula to earn $500 in a single day: Still the greatest income opportunity for those with little experience…
  • New this year: A beginner and an advanced track – so beginners can gain the skills they need to start, and advanced shooters can get strategies to earning more… and you’ll get access to the recordings of both!
  • Cellphone photography: Who’s paying for it and how to do it right…
  • Details on how to get free stuff with your photos – hotel stays, museum tickets, park and show passes, free drinks, and more…
  • Specifics on how to earn 14 times more when you add video to your skills…
  • The latest trends, including why authenticity is in – no need for models and fake settings – now you can photograph real people doing real things. We’ll show you how and where to sell the photos…
  • Drone photography: Where this market is going and the fastest way to take advantage of it…

And more.

And not only will you learn these tricks and secrets from the pros, you’ll get a chance to try them yourself, too…

Get professional and supportive feedback in our one-on-one sessions—from mentors who want you to succeed

After all, sitting behind a desk and learning how to do something is completely different from getting up and actually doing it. That’s why you’ll spend at least half a day with your camera in-hand practicing what you learn.

And you’ll get feedback on your work before you leave so there’s no guesswork.

You’ll know what it takes and you’ll have proof that you can do it. And you’ll leave with the beginning of a saleable photo portfolio in hand (plus all the know-how you need to reproduce saleable photos on your own when you get back home). That’s what this whole thing is about, really.

Feedback is the number one tool new photographers need to succeed. Good feedback on your images – from a pro that knows the system – can shave years off your learning curve and ultimately put you in a happier place.

And that’s why this year we are going to devote even more time to your photo reviews. You’ll get a whole new level of personal mentoring… one that would cost a small fortune were you to pay for it anywhere outside this workshop.

You’ll find that this is a safe space for beginners to learn – you won’t get a harsh critique, but rather helpful advice from a supportive and encouraging teacher. Someone who will motivate you to keep at it.

All you need to do is come with an interest in photography – no experience necessary, just a digital camera in hand – and in three days this coming spring, we’ll show you exactly what you need to know to turn photos and videos of your next vacation… your own hometown… and even your pets… into a fast, fun, easy income stream… for life.

In your spare time. Again, no experience necessary

Special Bonus:

Earn 14 times more – and fund your travels – with VIDEO!

It’s an opportunity to cash in on all the benefits of selling pictures from your vacations for income – the money, the on-the-house travel perks, hotel upgrades, free meals, and more…

Here’s what Joe says about shooting video on his travels:

“Making beautiful images is wonderful and preserving the memory of special moments is priceless… but why not make some money at the same time?

Creating good, saleable video clips with your camera is far easier than you might fear! I’ve been shooting award-winning video for years and I’ll be sharing the professional tricks that I use every time I pick up a camera to ensure I’ll have shots that clients want to buy.

If you already have your camera in your hands, it is simple to shoot profitable video clips — and I’ll show you a few simple, proven guidelines to help you make money selling video clips as stock… tips you can put into practice immediately. Video has increased my stock sales by 14x — and it can happen for you too.”

Without a big upgrade in equipment.

And without the hassle of sending photos to an editor, uploading them to a stock agency, or otherwise selling them online.

VIDEO is nearly as big a game-changer in the photo world as the internet was, creating a great opportunity for travelers willing to document their experiences in exchange for complimentary travel and a second income. And it’s here to stay.

Hawaii, Greece, Belize – you decide where you want to go and fund it using that tiny little video button on the top of your camera, iPad, or smartphone.

You don’t need a special video-recorder. You don’t need a bunch of video-editing software. Nor do you need a crew of people to help you.

In some ways, videos are even easier to sell than still photographs. There’s less competition, and the market is HUGE.

Note: you can sell video clips from your own hometown, too. And, this April in St. Louis, you’ll see exactly how it’s done.

Joe Sindorf (who you’ll meet in St. Louis) has cracked the code for earning 14 times as much from his video clips than he earns from his regular photos. And it doesn’t require a ton of extra time either. When you already have your camera out shooting photos, you can easily learn how to press the video button and create short, saleable clips you can sell.

Join us in St. Louis this April 12-14 and learn how to profit from your photographs and VIDEO!

9 Reasons why you won’t want to miss this Ultimate Photographer’s Workshop

9. If you like taking pictures of your family or snapping vacation photos on your vacations, then you’ve got the basics to make it in this business. All you need to do is turn your interests and habits into income-earning tools. And that’s exactly what our experts can show you how to do this April in St. Louis.

8. Past attendees have said that they’d pay extra for more group review sessions because they learn so much just getting their own photos critiqued and watching the experts comment on their classmates’ photos too. But you don’t have to pay extra. This workshop includes extra group review sessions and more shooting time.

7. A glossy magazine photo can earn you anywhere from $200 to $1,200… if, that is, you know what photo editors are after. And that’s just one of the important secrets you’ll learn at this event.

6. You’ll discover even more fun and lucrative niches you may never have considered before. In St. Louis a whole new world of opportunity will open up before you. If you’re looking for a new way to make money on the side, or a career change altogether, you won’t want to miss this event.

5. The Ultimate Photographer’s Workshop is NOT your standard-fare photo workshop. It’s true you’ll spend some time listening to our seasoned pros divulge their secrets… but we’ve also arranged for you to put what you’ve learned into practice. You’ll be shooting out and about in St. Louis, getting the “in the trenches” experience you need. And then you’ll return to the classroom where you’ll learn how to sell the photos you just created. That’s unlike anything else you’ll find on offer.

4. There’s no other event like this… anywhere. And at these workshops, we make it our business to let you know exactly what editors, photo buyers, and stock agencies want. You can’t find this information on the street and it would likely take you years of trial-and-error to learn it for yourself. There IS no better way to get started.

3. Don’t forget the money: You’ll find out exactly what you need to do to make your photographs saleable in addition to all the sessions you’ll get on improving your photography from the start.

2. Three attendees will get their first photo paycheck at the event! That’s right. I’m creating a special photo challenge this year where I’m going to buy photographs from three attendees whose St. Louis photos best fit my photo challenge! That means you could leave with an extra $100 in your pocket.

And the #1 reason why you should attend this event:
Because you can’t afford not to.

Leave on vacation, return home

a Money-Making Photographer

This year, The Ultimate Photographer’s Workshop will take place in St. Louis, Missouri. Here, you’ll find history, green spaces, fabulous food, breweries, and unique art displays.

Take this opportunity to visit the famous Gateway Arch. You can catch a tram ride up to the top of this iconic 630-foot monument – the tallest man-made monument in the United States – to enjoy great views of the city and beyond.

While in the “Gateway City,” you can also visit the spot where Lewis and Clark set out on their historic journey west in 1804. Or, explore the Mississippi River via a charming cruise on a replica of a 19th-century paddle-wheel boat.

Be sure to try some of the local food specialties, including: toasted ravioli (that’s ravioli breaded and deep-fried), St. Louis-style thin crust pizza, and delicious “gooey butter cake.” And if you’re interested in breweries, St. Louis has plenty on offer. It’s the location of Anheuser-Busch, but also home to many local craft breweries where you can tour and sample.

For a relaxing afternoon picnic, check out Forest Park – one of the largest urban parks in the U.S. and once home to the 1904 World’s Fair. It’s full of scenic walking and biking trails. Or consider visiting Citygarden, an “urban oasis” of sculpture art, fountains, gardens, and waterfalls.

You’ll have plenty to photograph here – and, you’ll enjoy it all in the company of like-minded people, keen to learn, seek out the best photo opportunities, meet new friends, and HAVE FUN!

The workshop takes place at the Chase Park Plaza Royal Sonesta where we’ve arranged a special discounted rate for you of just $155/night plus tax. Travel and accommodation details, along with the event itinerary are all laid out for you below.

We’ll pack a lot of fun and information in during the day, but after hours you’ll have time to walk right out the front door and explore the history and charm of St. Louis. Or simply relax with a cocktail as you get to know your fellow photographers.

“Can’t thank you enough everyone at Great Escape Publishing! I thought it would be a great conference and it turned out to be even better – fabulous – and beyond what I was expecting.

“I’d recommend this workshop to others in a heartbeat! You offer so much, it’s all very well organized, and the depth and detail are impressive! I’ve been a published newspaper writer and photographer and public relations/media relations specialist for the last 27 years. You had so much to teach me about this whole other field and I’m terrifically glad I came.

“I loved your whole format. My first in-person experience with your organization. Each person was super helpful and responsive.”

– Roni Java

And many participants come back again and again…

“Each workshop is unique. Even speakers that have been at past workshops come with a new twist, or new way of looking at photography. The second time around, I actually knew what they were talking about, and I was more able to absorb all the information we were given so I could improve my skills.”

– Elizabeth Coughlan

“I highly advise a second workshop to anyone. On first attendance, you get so much information and it’s often hard to absorb it all then. Upon a second attendance, things that were a bit unclear now become clear. You are more familiar with your abilities. There is always new content and new presenters. A second attendance reinforces whatever didn’t “catch” the first time! And it’s always an enjoyable experience.”

– Susan Peters

“Go! You always learn more, even if it’s similar material presented by a different expert. Plus, you’re more advanced and the stuff presented will make more sense or resonate with you more than the first time around. I found that at my second Ultimate photo workshop, I knew my camera better, had more confidence, and a better skill base, which made the new information more relative to me.”

– Melanie Wood

This is an excellent opportunity to jump into the photographer’s lifestyle…

Whether you’re interested in adding photos to your travel articles… or you’re looking for a way to turn a “hobby” into an income-producing pastime… or you’re interested in, quite simply, learning and perfecting a skill that can provide you endless enjoyment, prestige, and fun…

There’s no better time than right now to create an income stream through photography… and if you’re interested in video, drone photography, or 360-degree photography, too, then – NOW is the time to act.

P.S. I can tell you this program is worth every penny – and more – but don’t take my word for it. Here’s what a few more of our past participants have to say…

“I absolutely would recommend this workshop. I’m still a novice, but attending a workshop is like a shot in the arm-I feel my learning curve has recently jumped a hurdle and feel I can go home satisfied that I’m moving and growing. – Laura Miyake

“One of the greatest things I’ve ever done for myself. I highly recommend it.” – April Thompson

“What I loved about this workshop – it was so practical, formulaic– and gave me a concrete realistic plan.” – Mary Pat Collins.

“This is the best workshop I’ve ever attended. It was very professional. Each speaker was outstanding, cared about each persona attending, open to helping us at any time. Each speaker has been there, done that, and shared freely with us. I know that I CAN DO IT! Yeah!” – Jan Hammerlund

“Just great as always. I always learn something important to change the way I photograph. It motivates us to do things on our own and opens our eyes to possibilities available in the world.” – Scott Moses

You were able to take a complex subject and break it into manageable parts that don’t send you into overload. Staff was amazingly helpful.” – Jane Jenkins

“It’s so hands on with simple learning techniques. Great people and all instructors are so nice. I didn’t realize I would love it so much and I can’t wait ‘till the next one!” – Pamela Stanley

“I learned a ton! I will need to go home and practice, practice, practice – but at least now I know what to practice doing!” – Sue Larson

“The workshop truly opened my creative side again. I wasn’t sure what to expect but thrilled with what I found.” – Megan Devonport

“I loved this workshop. Lots of excellent information, and easy to understand. And I can put it to use immediately! Thank you, thank you, thank you!” – Lyrae Perry

“I needed this. This is a workshop for people who know they want to make money with photography but don’t know where to begin. The team of presenters not only show you how to get started but also gives you the confidence to start taking the first steps.” – Joan Lyons

I got exactly what I needed … I’m so glad I found the Great Escape Publishing community – it’s a terrific resource overall and I love the staff’s commitment to their customers.” – Linda Lee Kaye

“This was probably the best workshop I’ve ever attended. The speakers kept my interest throughout the program, even with the jet-lag & late nights. Thanks.” – M. Gibson

“The Ultimate Photographers Workshop was one of the best times I’ve had in a while. This was something I wasn’t sure about but I’m so happy I came. This was the perfect balance between learning and play for adults.” – Rona Faison

“Thank you for a great, well-put together, organized event. This was my first workshop, likely not my last.” – Eileen Hartman

“This will be one workshop you will never forget and will leave with way more knowledge and tools to use in your profession than you ever thought you would! It is so organized, fun and so worth getting to meet these instructors who are so willing and want to help you succeed in your journey! Go to the next one you can!” – Cheryl Carder Hall

September 14 – 16, 2018
Austin, TX
$1,997

This is the last and final week to register…

I am so confident we can turn you into a travel writer – someone who’s paid to take luxurious trips around the world or in your own hometown —  in just three days, I’ll give you $600 to attend-from-home.

Offer expires September 18, 2018 at midnight

Join us for 3 days this fall and walk away a travel writer… ready to see your name in print, travel the world, and get paid for work you love!

Dear Travel Writer,

Every attainable goal in life starts with a plan. Quickly followed by good resources, motivation, and the right connections. And that’s exactly what our members get from these live events like the one coming up next week in Austin, TX…

The event itself is now Sold Out but sold out doesn’t have to mean left out when you respond below.

I’m so confident we can give you everything you need in just three jam-packed days, I’ll give you $600 to attend from home…

Because, let’s face it, there are a lot of reasons why travel writing is the best job in the world…

  1. It’s incredibly fun! It’s actually your “job” to relax by the pool at a beautiful seaside resort, play golf with a pro… take a boat excursion to a secluded Caribbean island, and then dine out at a 5-star restaurant – all in the name of research.
  2. You get paid to do things you’d gladly pay for yourself. Publications will cover many travel expenses. Resorts, tourism boards, and tour groups will invite you to stay for free and will roll out the red carpet. And then you get paid for sharing your experiences in travel articles when you get home!
  3. Bragging rights – not only will you get to see your name in magazines, newspapers, and online travel sites, but you will always have the coolest job to talk about at cocktail parties. Just think of how nice it will be to be taken out of line and shown to the front row or VIP lounge…
  4. You will have the chance to discover new things about the world and yourself, exploring the world as a travel writer – not a tourist. You will be encouraged to try new experiences, meet new people from different cultures, and explore places the typical tourist often misses.
  5. You don’t need a degree in journalism or a mastery of the English language to become a travel writer. You don’t need a fancy laptop or lots of money. All you do need is an interest in seeing new places and meeting new people… For everything else, our workshop has got you covered.

And our top three success stories (plus hundreds more doing it all part-time) all came from this very single live event…

If you can take good notes about what you did and where you went, and then recommend — or discourage — others from following in your footsteps, you could earn a few hundred… maybe even a few thousand… dollars for your trouble.

And I’m willing to put $600 on the line to prove it.

In the coming months, you could be taking VIP vacations… getting invited to stay at the best resorts without spending a penny… and seeing your name and articles published everywhere — from local websites to the world’s most prestigious travel magazines and newspapers… Patti Morrow launched her career at this very event a few years ago. She says…

For me, it started with an epiphany. My passion was travel – especially international adventure travel. But because of the cost and time, I could only travel during my two weeks’ vacation. So I decided to find a way to have someone else foot the bill.

As a lobbyist, I’d been published writing about government regulations. Surely, I figured, if I could get published writing about something so dry, surely I could get published writing about something people actually want to read!

But I didn’t know where to start. So I did some online research and came across Great Escape Publishing and was especially interested in their workshop that was coming up at the time in Chicago. I knew I had to go and give this a try or forever wonder if whether I could have made it as a travel writer.

So, over one weekend in July, I attended the workshop. I sat in that classroom, frozen in place, eyes glued to each presenter. I was so excited, I could hardly breathe as story after story and tip after tip came across the stage. These were the tools I needed, and failure was not an option.

In three days, they taught me how to write a saleable article, write to an editor, where to get my first bylines, how to land perks and press trips, how to find magazines that want my stories and how to get assignment letters.

I was hooked. After two years I had so many assignments and I enjoyed travel so much, I quit my full-time job and became a full-time travel writer.

Terri Marshall launched her career at this event, too. Click on the video below to watch her story and see the transformation it’s had on her life transitioning from accountant to full-time travel writer…

And most recently, this is where Noreen Kompanik got her start.

She came as the guest of a friend to the Ultimate Travel Writer’s Workshop when we held it in her city of San Diego. Last week on Facebook she announced:

Click below to watch her story and transformation all started at The Ultimate Travel Writer’s Workshop…

Patti, Terri, Noreen – they all decided to switch to full-time travel writing but even if that’s not what you want, hundreds of others are living it up part-time too…

Tim Cotroneo had no writing experience when he joined our workshop, took the plunge, and swapped his job in recruitment – his cold, hour-long commute, and “regular life” – for the travel writer’s life… for “everything you dream of!”

He tried to quit his full-time job, but his boss begged him back. So, here’s how he’s juggling both – a job and part-time travel writer so he can spend as much time as possible on white sand beaches…

Workshop Participant, Tim Cotroneo

So, what’s happened to me in the past year since becoming a travel writer?

Well, I’ve received the services of a butler… enjoyed a helicopter thrill ride… and called a best-selling author “neighbor.”

Before travel writing, I thought these things only happened to people in the movies.

Now, my dream-come-true is happening as we speak.

In the Caribbean, on the island of Anguilla, I stayed for free in a five-bedroom, oceanfront villa that included a butler. On the island of Nevis, I played free golf—watched, from a mango tree, by a gallery of vervet monkeys.

Next month, I’m attending a press trip in Turks and Caicos. I’ll be writing about a cabana bar restaurant located smack dab on Grace Bay, a 12-mile beach considered to be one of the most beautiful in the world…

Over the past year, in addition to enjoying airfare, hotel, dining, spa, and excursion perks that are courtesy of having “travel writer” on my business card, my articles generated pay-days ranging from $50 to $800. Travel writing may be the ultimate win/win profession.

Let me set the stage for my travel writer before and after. In 2011, before attending a travel writer workshop, I lived a rather normal existence as a recruiter in the fields of architecture and engineering. When I wasn’t reviewing resumes and job descriptions, I played matchmaker between candidates and employers.

I live in Minneapolis, a city notorious for its not-so-tropical temperatures. My rush-hour commute in the winter could take up to an hour. These white-knuckle treks gave me time to daydream of warmer climates and ditching my snow boots for flip-flops.

The idea of taking on a second life involving talcum-powder beaches, rum punches, and snorkeling adventures seemed far-fetched… but since learning the travel writing tricks of the trade, my life has been rewarded in ways that I can only describe as “priceless.”

All travel writers have a different vision of what living the travel writer life means. You may want to visit Europe and write about Italian vineyards… German beer festivals… and French cuisine.

Or you may be drawn towards adventure vacations, like hiking in the mountains, white-water rafting, or checking out African wildlife on safari.

For me, the mother lode is a Caribbean writing existence.

And, believe it or not, I’m doing just that now…

And, for workshop participant Scott Kendall, travel writing is all about the opportunity to have richer, more meaningful experiences, and meeting interesting new people…

Workshop participant, Scott Kendall, and his family…

An intimate cooking class in the Tuscan hill town of Montepulciano, Italy, in the company of Oscar-winning filmmakers, a charismatic restaurant owner, and a head chef.

A private water taxi picking us up from our complimentary hotel in Venice and delivering us to the doorstep of one of the finest glassmaking factories in Murano for a personal tour.

A beautiful five-course meal with a local Monterosso wine, starting with a warm welcome from the owner, all the while enjoying the view from the best seat in a fabulous seaside restaurant in Cinque Terre.

These are just a few of the experiences that came my way on a trip to Italy after I discovered the perks of being a travel writer.

I have always enjoyed traveling, but, like many people, I have done so on limited information and a modest budget. Being away for a week or two was an extravagance — there was little money left in the budget for indulgences like fancy hotels, fine dining, expensive excursions, and the like. My wife Julie and I often skipped outings because they were too expensive, or we didn’t know the right people, or we were just oblivious to what is out there.

But traveling writing has opened up doors that were never available to us before. It gave us the opportunity to share a Tuscan restaurant’s cozy kitchen with the owner Massimo, the head chef Federico, and another lovely couple who joined us for a very entertaining cooking class. The couple, who happened to be Oscar-winning filmmakers from Australia, were fun and engaging throughout the class.

Because we enjoyed the morning cooking class so much, Julie, our son Jacob, and I later returned to the same restaurant and were treated to one of the most delicious, and eye-appealing meals I have ever had. Dishes included octopus ragout with gnocchi, pigeon breast with “Vin Santo” wine sauce and foie gras, sirloin beef steak from Val di Chiana, and a warm compote of seafood, tuna, shrimp, marinated salmon, squid, mussels, vegetables, and seawater. And then came three delectable desserts, including their popular chocolate “cigar” with tobacco ice-cream and rum sauce.

Travel writing has helped me discover the best places and activities, and reach out to great people at my chosen destinations. In addition to getting some great complimentary perks, I have formed relationships with hotel and restaurant owners, chefs, business-owners, artists, writers, and other interesting people. This has opened so many doors of opportunity that I would never have encountered in my previous life.

And for Theresa St John it was about adding life to her years, not years to her life.

Theresa has been to both of our workshops – The Ultimate Travel Writer’s Workshop and our photography workshop that has already passed. Here’s her story and transformation to part-time travel writer…

Ordinary folks, extraordinary successes.

This workshop really works

You don’t need a degree in journalism or a mastery of the English language to become a travel writer. And you don’t need a fancy laptop or lots of money, either.

What you do need is an interest in seeing new places and meeting new people… and a willingness to apply the techniques, tricks, and secrets the pros use to write the kinds of stories that editors want to buy… and land the amazing perks just sitting there waiting for you to grab them.

“35 days ago, I walked into The Ultimate Travel Writer’s Workshop. Prior to that day, I’d never written a thing. Today, I have a byline!” – Mary Anne L.

“I’m so excited! It’s been two months since I attended the Ultimate Travel Writer’s Workshop. Earlier today I received my first payment for an article! I’m a PAID travel writer now!” — Gwyn G.

“Wow I love Saturday surprises! Checked my email this morning and I have my first confirmed press trip of 2017 to go swim with the manatees… in 3 ½ weeks. J I have 1 letter of assignment now to get pitching to some other outlets.” – Betsi Turner Hill

And you don’t even have to travel to make a go of it. After all, where you live is a destination for somebody.

You can easily write about what there is to see and do in your hometown. And when you do that, you’re pretty much guaranteed local celebrity status. That means invites to all sorts of fun stuff — like gallery openings, tourist attractions, new restaurants, and more.

Learn the insider keys to writing — and selling — stories with ease… plus lots, lots more…

It’s too late to join us in person in Austin for our annual live travel-writing workshop, but there is a very special way you can still access every expert, every presentation… every secret tip, scrap of advice, and insider strategy shared… every PowerPoint slide… and every worksheet – when you use your VIP ticket to join in from home.

You’ll…

  • Find out the little-known techniques travel writers use to land concert tickets… meals… vacations… and more… without paying a dime…
  • Know exactly what to do to get your name and articles published everywhere — from local newspapers to the world’s most prestigious travel magazines.
  • Learn how to avoid the three biggest mistakes new writers make when they write travel articles — and discover the surefire tricks of the trade that will have you writing like a pro in no time.
  • Make the critical industry contacts you need and learn exactly how, step-by-step, you turn an idea into a publishable piece… and then how you actually get what you’ve written into the pages of a magazine, newspaper, newsletter, or website…
  • Find out 11 surefire ways to guarantee editors will love you.
  • Learn why writing about where you live can be so much fun — and such an important first step to take — and how it can easily lead to great paying assignments and amazing perks all over the world.

After just three days, you’ll know how to…

  • Travel on less money than ever… sometimes without spending a single penny…
  • Get your name on the “invitation list” at the world’s best resorts, hotels, bed-and-breakfasts, eco-retreats, and weekend hideaways, so you find yourself getting offers of hospitality and invites to stay… all compliments of the owners…
  • Write a saleable article in as little as 20 minutes (or less)…
  • Start collecting checks for the articles you’ll write, and how to get your name in print faster than you’d ever thought possible…
  • Stretch your vacation dollars — save hundreds of dollars a night — when you defray your travel costs with deeply discounted “press rates” at swank hotels around the world. Find out how it’s done — what to say and what not to say — and what you can do to increase the chances that next time you’ll be asked back for free.

We’ll even introduce you to several real publications looking for your articles, and ready to hand you your first check!

Another part of why our workshop attendees find success is our commitment to connecting you with real-life opportunities – so you can take what you learn and immediately turn it into a byline and a check.

Every year we hold a Publication Expo: A Job Fair for Freelance Travel Writers, where we connect you with publishers that we’ve already reached out to… and that we know are happy to work with you.

We’ve been in touch with the editors at more than a dozen publications. We’ve interviewed them. Really, we picked their brains. And found out — on your behalf — what, exactly, they’re looking for in an article.

We asked about what they like… what drives them nuts… and what you can do to increase your chances of landing a byline there. You’ll learn all of that… and more.

We’ve also included each publication’s writer’s guidelines as well as links to the websites and sample articles from each publication profiled.

In essence, you’re getting a roadmap for scoring a byline in each one.

This is where most workshop participants get their first published story – in one of the publications we’ve already contacted and profiled for you.

Bonnie told us she landed three bylines in publications we told her about.

“The profiles explained exactly what the editors were looking for — in the editors’ own words. And so I just followed the easy directions you laid out there. I immediately landed three stories — within a month of the workshop. It was so exciting to see my name in print. And it gave me my start.

“Honestly, I feel a little like I cheated the system. I mean, aren’t budding writers supposed to suffer starting out? I sure didn’t. I just did what you showed us how to do. And it got me immediate success. So thanks!”

 — Bonnie C.

“It’s been a good day for this travel writer. I secured a free stay in Portland, OR and in a boutique luxury hotel. I’ll be writing about hotels in Portland for Trip101.com. Plus, I just got a call telling me I’ve got a check in the mail for my article in a regional food magazine Edible Delmarva… Thanks to all of you who have helped me!” — Kurt Jacobson

All in all, the information you’ll gain in this workshop could, quite literally, change your life — it has already for so many past attendees who, today, are working travel writers.

You might reasonably expect it to cost thousands of dollars. After all, you’re getting extraordinary access to industry experts and guidance from professional writers who will share with you the insights and secrets they’ve learned over many years on-the-job. But it won’t cost anywhere near that. I’ll give you the numbers, and a link to your last chance VIP, $1,700 savings ticket in a minute.

But first…

Let me introduce you to the experts you’ll be

hearing from…

Jennifer Stevens is the author of The Ultimate Travel Writer’s Program (our home-study program) and architect of this workshop.

Jen is the Executive Editor of International Living and long-time travel writer having spent the balance of the last decade gallivanting around Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe, writing about the best locales for overseas travel, retirement, and investment.

From her you’ll get the insider’s scoop about what editors are really after and blueprints for articles you can follow so easily you’ll find your pieces published in no time. Plus you’ll learn how to polish your articles in just such a way that editors will be transfixed.

“Jen was able to take a group of anxious inexperienced students and turn them into confident travel writers in only 3 days!” — Bernadine Birdsong

“Jennifer’s presentations are chock-full of practical useful information delivered in a lively and interesting way and her experience and credentials are solid and authentic.” — Sana Ruddick

Kyle Wagner is a freelance writer, former food critic and former long-time Travel Editor at the Denver Post. Kyle dished out her opinions on dining in Denver for 12 years before she moved to the Post. Her love of food found her traveling the world in search of the best meals, which served her well when the previous travel editor retired from the Post and Kyle got the job. She’ll share her invaluable insider knowledge of what makes travel editors tick, how to write an attractive query, how to break into newspaper travel sections, and how to add a food element — ever more indispensable these days — into your travel stories, making them irresistible to editors.

“I loved her part of the workshop… she gave awesome tips on contacting an editor.” — Yolanda Biggs

“It would be hard to find a more knowledgeable or experienced editor.” — Alicia Dietrich

Ian Aldrich is the Deputy Editor for Yankee Magazine and a native New Englander. For the last decade, Ian has worked and freelanced for Yankee, writing feature stories and overseeing the magazine’s digital platform.

In this last year alone, Yankee has expanded by leaps and bounds – including producing its own television show – and in Austin, Ian will share with you everything you need to know about how the travel writing industry is changing and show you exactly what you can to do to stay ahead of the curve.

“Ian was genuine and humble in his approach and conveyed a real interest in the attendees.” — Beth W.

“Ian is knowledgeable, funny, and as layered as the publication he represents.” — Carolyn B.

Tracey Minkin is the Senior Editor of Travel and Features at Coastal Living, an award-winning luxury magazine and digital brand specializing in homes, destinations, food, style, and personalities from the coasts of North America and beyond. During her career, Tracey has worked as a freelance writer and as an editor for regional and national magazines – so she knows exactly how to pitch to many different kinds of publications. Her writing has been anthologized in collections and has won both regional and national awards; she was a contributing author to Fodor’s The Thirteen Colonies, a historical/cultural travel guidebook; and she was the founding editor of a Providence, Rhode Island-based digital news and information platform, GoLocalProv.

“Tracey’s knowledge, experience and personality are exactly what beginning travel writers need.” – Andy Wilson

“Loved Tracey’s advice and her publication. The fact that she started as freelance and then landed the editorial job at the magazine is inspiring.” – Gayle Irwin

“I appreciate hearing Tracey’s perspective of print and digital and felt it most relevant to both the evolving publishing landscape and my personal interests.” – Michele Bliss

And more…

You’ll also be introduced to several special “guest presenters,” too.

These are people who hire writers just like you and who are always in the market for stories they can pay for to fill up their pages.

These “guest editors” will talk to you about their own particular niches and how to guarantee you can break in with ease. For instance, you’ll hear about food writing — how to write about restaurants, what to make sure you include in your reviews, tricks for evaluating cafés, bars, and restaurants, and more…

Plus, we’ve invited a wide variety of freelance writers who will share with you the lessons they’ve learned over the years and the secrets they know to apply every time they sit down to write.

This is the kind of stuff it would take you years to figure out on your own. But our speakers will spare you the trouble, frustration, and time… and just cut to the chase.

That way you’re sure to be using your time and energies wisely. There’s no more efficient — or fun — way to learn this stuff and guarantee you’re up-and-running, enjoying the perks of a writer’s life fast.

After joining us at one of our workshops in Argentina, Sandra K. sold an article about Buenos Aires apartments within just a month of her return home.

And another participant from our workshop in San Diego successfully sold the same article she wrote during our program three times — and got paid for it all three times, too.

Theresa St John who you hear from often in our newsletter sold the article she worked on in class, too, and this is something that happens again and again with the people who attend these live events.

We’re also including something else very special — and useful — for wanna-be travel writers.

We looked back at our most popular presentations, the ones attendees said really helped power their success. And we’re giving you access to a presentation on how travel writers can add photos to their stories — for sometimes double or triple the pay — by seasoned professional photographer Efraín M. Padró. We’re pulling this straight out of our vault, just for you this year and it’s not available anywhere else.

Your Free Gift

Practical (“You can do it with a point-and-shoot”)
lessons from a professional photographer, who’ll show you how to capture simple images to accompany your articles…

And double or triple your pay!…

Unlike most travel writing workshops out there we’ve also integrated something else very special — and useful — into this program. A revealing bonus presentation by a seasoned professional photographer. And while Efrain won’t be on the ground with us in Austin, you’ll still get a chance to learn his tricks of the trade from the comfort of your own home with a private replay of his most popular workshop session from past events.

Efraín M. Padró is a full-time professional photographer specializing in nature and travel subjects. His work has appeared in Outdoor Photographer, Frommer’s Budget Travel, Geographic Expeditions catalogs and other publications. And he is the author of The Photographer’s Guide to New Mexico. Adding photos is a great way to sell more articles and land more bylines… but also to up your income. In fact, send the right photos with your story and that can easily double what you make on it.

It’s true that photos help you sell your articles. And it’s also true that you don’t need lots of experience or expensive equipment to take the kinds of shots that can illustrate your stories beautifully.

In this bonus session (a special gift), you’ll learn some easy techniques you can put into practice immediately to take better shots every time. You’ll find out how to easily transform a vacation snapshot into a photo you can sell. Plus find out how to put together an article-photo package that will have editors knocking at your door.

Of course, all of that is just a small sampling of the kind of real-world insights this program delivers…

“My article on Emerald Reef Golf Course and Grand Isle Resort in Great Exuma is the cover story on the January issue of Golf Vacations Magazine. They also used one of my photos as the cover shot!” — Tim Cotroneo

“I live in San Felipe Baja Mexico. I visited Guerrero Negro in Baja to go whale watching. I wrote an article on this fabulous experience and it has been published in the San Felipe newsletter which comes out December 15th. I’m very excited about this as it’s my first publication. I will be featured in the newsletter every month as a travel writer!” — Laurel Ross

When you join us for our biggest travel writing event of the year, over these three days, you’ll get real “boots on the ground” advice from experts who are making it happen themselves. They’re all generous with their time and expertise, and will be available to answer your questions.

They firmly believe that anybody – armed with the right secrets and a commitment to use them – can make money and travel better as a travel writer.

The world’s best locations – on THEIR tab – and they’ll pay you to write about it!

If you want to get paid to dine at delectable restaurants… visit your favorite haunts… and turn your insider knowledge of your own hometown into checks that land in your mailbox…

If you want to play on first-rate golf courses and ski the best slopes… find out how to land an incredible deal for a fraction of the usual rate, or maybe no charge at all…

If you want to spend your next birthday on a white-sand beach in Bora Bora… sip tea in an Irish countryside cottage… or spend a day sampling the finest wines and cheeses France has to offer… then this workshop is for you

This is what Monday mornings look like…when you’re a travel writer…

There are plenty other “writing workshops” out there. But I want to be clear — this program is different than anything else you’ll find. It’s not the kind of thing where you just hear from some writers who share their stories to inspire you.

We do that, too, mind you. I mean, I guarantee you’ll come away invigorated and ready to really jump into travel writing. But we take things a few steps further. We hand you a roadmap you can follow to really make it happen.

Our experts will actually give you a success plan you can work through — day-by-day — so you can have an article to an editor within weeks. We’re all about action.

For the first time this year we’re bringing these income earning travel writing opportunities directly to you!

This workshop is bigger and better than ever before — with a broader scope, more speakers, more sessions, and more on-the-ground insights. Truth is, there’s a lot of change happening in the travel-writing industry right now, and we’re making sure you don’t miss out.

For the many years we’ve been hosting these workshops, participants have always had to attend in person to get full access and opportunities for live interaction and networking.

That’s why I’m so excited to be offering this option for attending our workshop virtually!

This means you can join in from anywhere in the world you have internet access… whether that’s your home office, a couch with a cup of coffee, or a café in Costa Rica…

You’ll have access to every single live presentation, question, comment or tit-bit of advice shared… Lifetime Access to the recordings, so you needn’t worry if you want to recap later or you’d simply prefer to tune in for an hour or two in the mornings, and cover the event at your own pace… You’ll be able to get all of your questions answered.

And do it all in the company of like-minded people, keen to learn, seek out the best travel writing opportunities, meet new friends, and HAVE FUN!

There will even be an exclusive Facebook group for participants to network with fellow travel writers, staff members, and experts, long after the event is over. We all know, you’ll succeed a lot better, and have more fun, with the support of friends sharing the same journey.

We’ll introduce you to a system that, when coupled with a bit of persistence, is so powerful, our past workshop participants are getting their work published like there’s no tomorrow.

The information you’ll gain at this workshop could, quite literally, change your life — it has already for so many of our past participants who, today, are working travel writers.

Here’s what our workshop architect, Jennifer Stevens, has to say about the program:

“… we provide step-by-step instruction on exactly what you need to do to put an article together. Follow these formulas, and you’ll always know what to put first and what to write next.”

“And then, of course, we show you what to do after that, how — and where — to sell this article you’ve just written.”

Jennifer Stevens
Architect of The Ultimate Travel Writer’s Workshop

Comments from our last Livestream Event…

“I LOVED attending via LiveStream and was so grateful that GEP extended the opportunity to do so. I honestly loved every minute. I felt almost like I was really there.” — Shea McNaughton

“The information was new and up to date and really applicable! I was really inspired by all of it. I think it was the best workshop you’ve ever given!!! (Just wish I could have been there in person!!!)” — Caroline Maryan

“I have wanted to participate in one of your workshops for YEARS but couldn’t because of work or expenses. This made it possible for me to finally put the program into action… I learned more in that Livestream weekend and the following weeks, than I have in the last 20 plus years of reading “how to” books. The interaction and feedback makes all the difference in the world and each instructor was inspiring in their own way. Thanks so much for this workshop!” — Carla Walsh

“Watching the conferences rather than only hearing them is so much better! It changes the whole event… It makes it REAL.” — Celia Furt

“This workshop has been fantastic. Right from the start, it was packed full of information… And the great thing is, we have the recordings. I know I’ll be watching them… a few dozen times.” — Pippa Wyvill

Last chance for a discounted VIP ticket to what could be the biggest event in your life

We could reasonably charge $2,000 to $3,000 for an event of this caliber, not to mention the accessibility to the professional writers and editors on staff. And it would be worth every penny.

But when you secure your seat today, you can take advantage of a BIG discount.

The full price of this event to attend live was $1,997 + the cost of hotel + airfare, meals and more averaging more than $3,100 per person. Yet you’ll pay less than half that to attend from your favorite chair AND STILL get to speak to our pros.

I am so confident this event can launch your new travel writer’s life, I will pay you $600 to join us. Your ticket costs just $1,397 (money you can recoup with travel perks and the sale of your first few articles, and a savings of almost two grand in expenses!!).

Plus, as I mentioned above, you’ll have lifetime access to the recordings if you want to pause a session, or step away from your computer for a bit and come back to it.

… or months down the line you want to check the contact details on a publisher you know likes to work with “newbies”, and what to say when you’re asking for that press trip…

It’s all there whenever you need professional advice, and don’t forget you can reach out to your new friends in the exclusive Facebook group for support and advice too! This is your new tribe.

Join us from home, and you’ll learn one simple key to getting every article you write published… the easiest articles to sell and resell… how to get in the door (and into print)… how to parlay your travel writer status into coveted perks… and much, much more…

Diana R. said, “My favorite luxury travel and spa writing perk was when my husband and I spent a week floating French canals on a 12-passenger barge — entirely free of charge.”

Stan S. says one of his top three all-time favorite travel writing perks was “my pampered cruise through Patagonia around Cape Horn, the southernmost land mass in the world, with excursions that included walking amid thousands of penguins and sipping cocktails from atop a glacier.” A runner up included a cruise through Alaska’s Inside Passage. Mark’s two-page feature article won him a week-long sailing trip for two in Croatia!

All sorts of images sell

It’s Not about Taking Pretty Pictures. It’s about Taking Images Photo-Buyers Need. Learn how to find in-demand images in unexpected places… including your own home and backyard.

Lisa Top spent a few minutes running around the house taking pictures of oddities (gopher mounds, termite droppings, dry rot) anything that could be considered “pesty”. She figured insurance and pest control companies might need photos like these.

And she was right!

She recently wrote to tell me that her photo of termite droppings is now her best-seller online.

Troy Nelson collects minerals and stones so after coming to our Ultimate Photographer’s Workshop he got the idea to photograph them and sell them as stock and at the Mineral Shows he attends. This one of Gem Silica Chyrsocolla is one of maybe a dozen that have sold for $60 and it’s cool because this is something he likes to do anyway and other collectors appreciate his work.

Patrick Civello says this photo of solar panels probably does well in his portfolio because of the green energy trend. His solar panel images are among his best sellers at Shutterstock and iStock.

Kristen Bentz attended this workshop in Phoenix, AZ several years ago and soon after used her new skills to sell her photos locally. Today she’s making a name for herself with her dramatic weather and storm images like this one:

Kristen Bentz has sold this photo multiple times for an upwards of $2,500 earning her a total of $8,000 for this single image.

But what’s really great for Kristen is that she’s having a blast. She’s doing something she’d gladly do for free in her spare time anyway. The only difference now is that she’s making money from it.

She told us that her camera put an extra $30,000 into her bank account last year. (Kristen will be joining us in Baltimore to show you how she did it.) And she’s not alone.

Colleen Bessell attended our workshop and is now selling her photos as fine art on a tiny island off the coast of Vancouver. She sets up a booth at her local art fair where she displays bright color photos that she’s turned into digital watercolors earning her $3,000 or more per summer.

She took this quick snap while at a wedding and it’s gone on to earn her $750 so far!

Patrick S. in Colorado isn’t a professional photographer either – though he always took photos on vacation and, like most parents, lots of pictures of his kids.

And you’ve heard me talk about Danny Warren before.

Danny is now the proud father of two beautiful children.

It’s a passive income (enough to pay the mortgage on his new house) whether he’s outside taking more pictures, inside changing diapers, or hard at work as an information technology specialist.

Plus, there’s another very exciting opportunity in the cards for you this spring…

It’s an opportunity to cash in on all the benefits of selling pictures from your vacations for income – the money, the on-the-house travel perks, hotel upgrades, free meals, and more.

Without a big upgrade in equipment.

And without the hassle of sending photos to an editor, uploading them to a stock agency, or otherwise selling them online.

VIDEO is nearly as big a game-changer in the photo world as the internet was. And it’s here to stay.

It’s transforming the industry… creating a great opportunity for travelers willing to document their experiences in exchange for complimentary travel and a second income.

And, this April, you’ll see exactly how it’s done.

Hawaii, Greece, Belize– You decide where you want to go and fund it using that tiny little video button on the top of your camera, iPad, or smartphone

You don’t need a special video-recorder. You don’t need a bunch of video-editing software. Nor do you need a crew of people to help you.

What’s more, in some ways, videos are even easier to sell than still photographs.

The competition is much less. The barrier for entry is much lower. And the market is HUGE.

It’s a whole new opportunity for you to earn cash from your travels … or start locally with videos of local hotels, businesses, or your community.

Join live as an award-winning videographer teaches you his secrets for earning 14 times as much from video clips as he earns from regular photos.

Joe Sindorf has cracked this code, and surprisingly it doesn’t require a ton of extra time to create videos rather than still photos. When you already have your camera out shooting photos, you can easily learn how to press the video button and create short, saleable clips. Joe will show you exactly how, in easy to follow steps, perfect for a beginner.

Here’s what Joe told me about shooting video on his travels:

“Making beautiful images is wonderful and preserving the memory of special moments is priceless… but why not make some money at the same time?!

Join us this April 7-9 and learn how to profit from your photographs and VIDEO!

“This workshop changed my life — or at least the direction it was going in. My biggest fear was dying before I actually had a chance to live. You gave me hope, confidence, and skills all at the same time. I’ve been to Ireland, Washington D.C. and just last month, Fiji, thanks to these events. I’m, of course, doing all the “hard” work of taking photos. But you opened my eyes to the possibilities and I’m forever grateful.” — Theresa St John

“I never thought I’d be a photographer. I was actually more interested in writing than I was photography. Now look, my last print just sold for $1,500 and I’m having so much fun with it. I keep telling everyone: Just try it. You’ll never know if you like it unless you try it.”— Wayne Hoover

Plus you’ll get invaluable bonuses that include free classes for beginners, a follow up webinar to go over your questions after the event … and lifetime access to recordings, too (which we won’t sell anywhere else – at any time of year).

I’ve literally stood next to a photo of me on the shelf at Bed Bath & Beyond, taken by professional stock photographer Shelly Perry whom you’ll meet in Baltimore, and just waited for someone to pass by so I could point out that it’s me inside the picture frame.

A few months ago one was shown on the tonight show with Jimmy Fallon, and today one showed up on a syndicated column that appeared in all online Sun media newspapers across Canada.”— Workshop attendee Amy Muschik

Jump-start your successful new life

Lucy Brown dreamed of being a travel photographer and writer before she attended this same workshop that’s coming up in Baltimore.

Now I’ve had a number of articles and photos published in International Living’s magazine and on their website – and gotten paid for them, too.”

I feel like I have a purpose wherever I go, always looking for a story to tell with photos and words and delving much deeper into the local culture than I would have before.

“Although I’m only just breaking into the industry, I’ve never been happier, working on my own schedule and earning money doing what I love. My income doesn’t support me yet, but it certainly helps toward paying for some of my trips and it makes living in Guatemala (or anywhere!) and traveling a much more enjoyable and fulfilling experience.” – Lucy B.

And Lucy’s not the only one to get her start this way. In fact, over the years we’ve shared the secrets to success with thousands of readers just like you.

“I felt that I got every penny’s worth from this. You guys thought of everything. Very impressive!” – Karen Ballard

“The value is excellent. I can’t imagine a better way to jump-start a career, such sincere, energetic, qualified, and friendly lecturers, along with presentations by real-world regular people with inspiring and attainable success stories.”– Vera Bojnel

Ordinary folks, extraordinary successes.
This workshop really works!

Join us this April, and you’ll learn all the latest tips and insider advice you need to get started, and to set yourself up for a photographer’s lifetime of freedom, adventure, and profits…

When you attend virtually, you won’t miss a thing! You’ll have access to all the live sessions (and Lifetime Access to the recordings), and you’ll be able to get all of your questions answered.

There will be an exclusive Facebook group for attendees to network with fellow photographers and staff members – a place where you’ll also have access to a special Facebook live chat with an Olympus and Fuji camera expert, too.

You’ll even have an “on-the-ground host” to help you get the most out of your Livestream experience.

So, what would your ideal photographer’s lifestyle look like? Some of our previous attendees have shared their stories with us – these folks who have already used the tricks and secrets they learned in our programs in the past, and are now enjoying tremendous success…

Meet Wayne Hoover:

In fact, Wayne’s been so happy with the level of success he’s achieved – not only the money, but also the fun and the freedom – that now he’d like to help others achieve that same level of success.

After he started making a good income as a photographer, Wayne has joined us as a speaker, helping to teach his ‘secrets of success’ to others. And this year, he’s also offered to serve as the on-the-ground-host for Livestream attendees. Think of Wayne as your personal concierge who will help you get the most out of your experience – ask him your questions before and during the event, and he’ll get you the advice and feedback you need from our experts.

Wayne has been in your shoes before – making the decision to attend this workshop – so he can help you know what to expect, and can guide you during the event, to be sure you are taking advantage of all the opportunities offered to you.

Here’s another attendee turned photographer, Cheryl Bigman:

You’ll get to know some of these folks this April. Even if you’re not there in person, you’ll still have plenty of opportunities to network and make new photography friends through the Livestream Facebook group that stays open long after the event has ended, too.

You’ll find that the camaraderie and enthusiasm amongst attendees is contagious – and it may just give you the boost of energy and confidence that you need to get started on your new, successful photography venture!

Meanwhile, here’s what previous attendees have to say…

Our speakers earn rave reviews

“This is truly the best workshop I have ever attended! The speakers, the energy, the attendees, the GEP staff made it fun, educational, engaging – and did I mention fun? I learned so much and met people I will remain friends with.” – Lisa Bennet

It’s just amazing how much knowledge you have passed on in such a short time, I really feel this workshop has given me the tools to “renovate” my life and what I do for a living” – Rolando Munari

“I picked up a lot of really good information that I will be able to actually use… and right away!” – Dore Terada

“Kristen really stood out to me because of her determination and persistence. I just love her personality! Very down to earth.” – Carline Bon-Ami

“You can’t beat Great Escape Publishing for the best presentations. You get a full view of the entire fields of photography and travel writing with terrific presenters and a great staff helping you every step of the way.” – Kathleen Pacheco

“I feel these are the best workshops for photography, as you really get all the info needed to actually go out and start whatever kind of photo business you want. Nothing is off limits, or “insider secrets,” and each presenter is so open and honest. Also, there is always plenty of food and drinks.” – Lynn Michels

Lots of bang for the buck. Excellent instructors, well designed programs…”– Diane Simpson

Wayne Hoover sold a set of fine-art photos for $1,500.

Beverly Shook puts her nature and still-life prints in calendars and has made almost $1,000 so far.

Stephanie Wolden takes pictures of vineyards, expensive wine bottles, and winery events in her Napa hometown and has made $4,500 so far.

This is our BIGGEST (and ONLY) Ultimate Photographer’s Event of 2018! It’s your only chance to learn from so many experts all in one event

When you join us via Livestream over these three days, you’ll get real “boots on the ground” advice from experts who are making it happen themselves. They’re all generous with their time and expertise and will be available to answer your questions.

Two-thirds of our photography success stories are thanks to Shelly. Now she’s back by popular demand…

Shelly earns more money in online stock agencies with a small portfolio than others earn with their very large collections of images, Shelly will tell you her secret for getting the most bang for your buck and why you should avoid wasting your time on images that won’t sell.

He’ll talk about his journey from no-income photographer to travel photographer and show you how to do the same.

And because she was in your shoes just three years ago, she knows exactly what kinds of lessons you need – how to be a scaredy-cat photographer and still make a sale… how to understand light and your camera… the easiest way to learn it all in a single weekend… and more.

This year, Bonnie will share her trick to “fake” good studio lights. Setting up professional lighting for a studio could cost you $1,000, $2,000, or more… but she’ll show you how to get the same effect for a much lower cost. Also, she’s got a secret for pulling in $500 a day (or more) from your photography—and she’ll show you how she’s used that secret to earn $10,000 from photography in the last 12 months, in addition to her full-time job here at Great Escape Publishing!

Kristen Bentz attended our workshop back in 2011 and picked up our experts’ advice on how to sell her photos locally. And by the time I met up with her in South Africa, she was the 2012 Monsoon Photographer of the Year. She’s young – early 30s – without a lick of proper photography training. But she loves storms. So every time bad weather is predicted in her area, she grabs the camera. And it’s really paid off. She knows exactly what it’s like to start off with no training or experience, she’s been where you are now, and she’s figured out how to turn pro.

What Kristen’s doing is completely replicable no matter where you live around the world. If you have a camera, Kristen will show you how she makes a profit taking pictures of storms that sell for upwards of $6,000. In addition, she’ll share her blueprint for earning your first $30,000 from your photos.

Joe is currently earning 20 times the income from his video stock footage than he is from his stills of exactly the same scene. He’ll show you exactly how that’s done, so you can work on collecting video clips with your camera or smartphone in addition to still photographs.

Tracey Minkin is the Senior Editor of Travel and Features at Coastal Living, a luxury magazine and digital brand specializing in homes, styles, destinations, and personalities from the coasts of North America and beyond.

Tracey, who is joining us for the first time at The Ultimate Photography Workshop, will teach you how to use social media to land assignments and sponsorships, and how to write smart and effective Instagram posts (do this right, and it will boost your photography income and success). Also, she’ll have a checklist you can use for selling to local or national publications. You’ll learn the fundamentals of crafting a story and tips for mindful reporting – tricks you can use in the field to accurately note and capture important details, instead of trying to reimagine it later

Efraín M. Padró has mastered the art of contacting magazines with his photos. Participants at past events have used his approach to land bylines in all sorts of publications from small regional magazines to illustrious and glossy in-flight magazines that sit in the seatback pockets of airplanes. He’s agreed to speak again this year and to share his blueprint for going from Zero to Pro and reaching out to magazines around the world.

In addition, he’ll take you through the specifics of how to take great nighttime photographs and ways to master the delicate art of travel photography – how to capture the essence of a destination in just six photos.

And many more…

Our presenters will reveal “tricks of the trade” to take more saleable images. They’re all ready to generously share their wisdom, tips, and tricks both on the stage and in the halls, with anyone who asks.

There’s no doubt – getting paid to take pictures no matter where you are is a great lifestyle

You’ll get the details on where to sell travel images, including stock photos, editorial, and fine art.

And you’ll learn how to take advantage of the latest trends – to boost your income fast. For example – how to leverage social media, especially Instagram, for success. And what color photos are selling best this year.

You’ll learn how simple headshot photography skills can help you take advantage of one of the most lucrative trends in the industry…

And how local art earns $6,000, or more, in a weekend…

Our experts will also show you how to score free stuff and enjoy perks along the way – things like free stays and access to places only photographers are usually allowed.

There is no substitute for the insights and tips you’ll gain from our team of professional photographers – tips that you can implement right away to start making money and getting the perks that come with The Photographer’s Lifestyle.

You’ll get…

  • A full rundown of the latest photography tool that’s taking the world by storm – Video!
  • Marketing tips for selling your photos and videos to a dozen or more different markets, including magazines, newspapers, websites, online stock agencies, local businesses, galleries, realtors, hotels and resorts, and more.
  • Camera manipulation tricks to make your images appear sharper and more professional.
  • Composition tips for removing power lines and unwanted clutter from your travel photographs.
  • Details on how to get free stuff with your photos – hotel stays, museum tickets, park and show passes, free drinks, and more.
  • Specifics on who to contact at magazines and newspapers to get your photos in front of the right person.
  • Specifics on how to earn 14 times more when you add video to your skills.
  • Details on selling your photos to local businesses as fine art. There’s a huge need for this and it’s easier than you might think!

And more.

And not only will you learn these tricks and secrets from the pros, you’ll get a chance to try them yourself, too.

After all, sitting behind a desk and learning how to do something is completely different from getting up and actually doing it. That’s why we’ll encourage you to go out and practice.

You can still participate even from home. After all, your city is a destination for someone and local tourist boards need photos of your hometown. There’s a wealth of stock, fine art, and editorial photo opportunities right in your own home or backyard!

Then, the week after the workshop, you’ll receive online feedback, on the photos of your choice, from one of our professionals. Expert feedback is an invaluable tool for learning – but it’s included free with your exclusive LIVESTREAM workshop invitation available here only!

Feedback is the number-one tool new photographers need to succeed. Good feedback on your images – from a pro that knows the system – can shave years off your learning curve and ultimately put you in a happier place.

And that’s why we were sure to include this personal mentoring experience… one that would cost a small fortune were you to pay for it anywhere outside this workshop.

All you need is an interest in photography – no experience necessary, just a digital camera in hand – and, in three days this coming spring, we’ll show you exactly what you need to know to turn photos and videos of your next vacation… your own hometown… and even your pets… into a fast, fun, easy income stream… for life.

In your spare time. Again, no experience necessary… and you don’t even need to come to Baltimore! You can join us from home, via Livestream.

This is the first year we’re offering Livestream – and I hope you’ll be a part of this exciting opportunity!

And, remember, access to recordings will only be available to live or Livestream attendees. Unless you want to wait until 2019, and pay more, there is no other way to get the information and strategies shared at our Ultimate Event.

You’ll have access to a team of our top photography experts – ask them your own questions LIVE during the event… Plus you get to put what you learn into practice, go out, take a few photos, and you can submit them for review and feedback after the event. You don’t have to pay a cent extra for this, because we know that personal feedback can make all the difference in giving you a jump-start on becoming a money-making photographer.

7. A glossy magazine photo can earn you anywhere from $200 to $1,200… if, that is, you know what photo-editors are after. And that’s just one of the important secrets you’ll learn at this event.

6. You’ll discover even more fun and lucrative niches you may never have considered before. As you Livestream the event – joining us from home or from your favorite local café – a whole new world of opportunity will open up before you. 5. This opportunity is priceless when you’re just starting out – having friends who are going through the same steps on this new adventure, who can encourage you, and let you bounce ideas off them – that can provide you with the accountability and support you need to get started fast.

4. There’s no other event like this… anywhere. And at these workshops, we make it our business to let you know exactly what editors, photo-buyers, and stock agencies want. You can’t find this information on the street, and it would likely take you years of trial-and-error to learn it for yourself. There IS no better way to get started.

3. Don’t forget the money: You’ll find out exactly what you need to do to make your photographs saleable in addition to all the sessions you’ll get on improving your photography from the start.

2. You’ll get access to an exclusive post-workshop webinar with the pros. Sometimes it takes a little while for the new information to sink in, and you’ll want to take some time to practice your skills after the event… After a few days, you may have some more questions. Not to worry. Thanks to this added bonus webinar, you’ll get continued access to instructors who can answer these questions for you.

And the #1 reason why you should attend this event:

Because you can’t afford not to.

For the first time this year we’re bringing these money-making photography opportunities directly to you!

That’s why I’m so excited to be offering, for the first time ever, the Livestream option for attending our workshop virtually!

This means you can access the sessions in real time, from anywhere in the world where you have internet access – whether that means at home in your office… on the couch with a cup of coffee… or from your local library or favorite café.

I enjoy attending live workshops… but I know there are plenty of reasons why that’s not always possible. Sometimes health reasons don’t allow for travel… or it can be hard to take time off work… or maybe there are personal responsibilities that make it difficult to leave home…

Or, maybe you just prefer the convenience of learning at home… maybe you’re not ready to take the leap and travel all the way to Baltimore, and would prefer to start by “dipping your toes in”…

Whatever the reason – you now have the perfect option to enjoy the live event without actually setting foot outside your home.

And you’ll enjoy it all in the company of like-minded people, keen to learn, seek out the best photo opportunities, meet new friends, and HAVE FUN!

Save BIG with our back-door attend-from-home offer for a limited time

Just one publishable photograph might earn you that much, or more. But when you secure a seat during our special sale, you can take advantage of a BIG discount.

The cost to register today is just $1,397 (money you can earn back with the sale of a few photos or videos and a savings of almost two grand in expenses!!).

Plus, as I mentioned above, you’ll have lifetime access to the recordings if you happen to miss part of a session, or have to step away from your computer for a bit.

Whether you’re just picking up a camera for the first time, or you’re an accomplished photographer seeking ways to make more money from your photos, these three days in Baltimore could, quite literally, change your life — as they already have for so many of our members who, today, are seeing their photos in print and are enjoying the freedom and flexibility that comes with the photographer’s life.

As one pleased first-time attendee put it…

“I got more than my money’s worth.”

“Every presenter was amazing! I feel I got way more than my money’s worth from this workshop. You packed into three days everything I ever wanted to know about the business side of photography and I learned so many wonderful new technical skills! I’ve had a wonderful time and loved every minute.

– Roni Java

And many attendees come back again and again…

“Each workshop is unique. Even speakers that have been at past workshops come with a new twist, or new way of looking at photography. The second time around, I actually knew what they were talking about, and I was more able to absorb all the information we were given so I could improve my skills.” – Elizabeth Coughlan

And it’s always an enjoyable experience.” – Susan Peters

“Go! You always learn more, even if it’s similar material presented by a different expert. Plus, you’re more advanced and the stuff presented will make more sense or resonate with you more than the first time around. I found that at my second Ultimate photo workshop, I knew my camera better, had more confidence, and a better skill base, which made the new information more relative to me.” – Melanie Wood

…then I encourage you to join my colleagues and me online via our new Livestream option, this April 7-9.

There’s no better time than right now to create an income stream through photography… and if you’re interested in video, too, then – now is the TIME to act.

Space in Baltimore is already SOLD OUT – but you can still join us online in real time by Livestream. We won’t hold another Ultimate Photographer’s Event until 2019 – and this is the only way to get the recordings. There is no other way to get this information this year.

Secure your place here today!

Sincerely,

Lori Allen
Director, Great Escape Publishing

P.S. I can tell you this program is worth every penny – and more – but don’t take my word for it. Here’s what a few more of our past attendees have to say…

Gibson

It is so organized, fun and so worth getting to meet these instructors who are so willing and want to help you succeed in your journey! Go to the next one you can!” – Cheryl Carder Hall

Civil War names always sounded romantic to me (Chancellorsville, Bull Run, Picket’s Charge, and most appealing, Gettysburg), even though I knew from studying the war in school that they were sites of terrible, bloody battles. Occasionally those battles are reenacted, and when I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, and found out that I could see what it was like firsthand, I jumped at the opportunity.

On July 1 and 2, Historic Latta Plantation, 12 miles northwest of Charlotte off Interstate 77, staged a reenactment of the Battle of Gettysburg, commemorating its 154th anniversary and the role North Carolinians played in it.

Driving to the plantation is like going back into the 1800s. Buildings disappear along Sample Road, which is miles-long and narrow. It’s bordered on both sides by dense, mature, leafy green trees and leads into the gravel parking lot in front of the picket-fenced building that serves as the gift shop, education/meeting room, and admissions/information center. Unless you climb over the fence, entrance to the 62-acre plantation is $8 for adults. Once you pay the fee, you’re free to spend the entire day exploring the grounds.

On the first weekend of July, those grounds were filled with men and women dressed in antebellum period costumes, accurate down to the last stitch. Since I was there for the battle, the most interesting to me were the men and boys in uniform, both Confederate and Union. The tan or gray outfits represented the South, while the Northerners wore their bright blue jackets. Every reenactor carried a musket and some had an iron bayonet tucked into their belt. Southern soldiers carried tin cups for drinking. The better outfitted Northerners had canteens slung across their shoulders.

Reenactors own both Confederate and Union uniforms, bought at their own expense, because, as they happily told me, one day they could fight for the South and the next they could fight for the North.

At 3 p.m. the battle commenced with Union forces firing into the woods where a troop of Confederate soldiers stood their ground. As the battle heated up and the blues and grays faced each other on the field, muskets fired, smoke filled the air, and soldiers, pretending to be shot, fell on the grass under the purple-flowering crepe myrtle. In the distance, where it could do no harm, the Confederate side fired a cannon that produced a lot of noise and smoke. Spectators cheered.

After it was over, the troops formed lines and marched out to greet each other. The generals shook hands, as the gentlemen they were, drums and fifes played, and regimental flags proudly waved. It was a glorious day.

Historic Latta Plantation is the last Catawba River plantation and working farm open to the public. Costumed guides lead tours through the house while tours of the 11 replicated outbuildings, including the kitchen, barn, smithy, and slave cabin, are self-guided. Farmers and blacksmiths still work as farmers and blacksmiths did in the 19th century, and during the school year, teachers bring their classes for hands-on learning experiences.

The plantation staff present special events during the year. Every September reenactors gather to fight the Battle of Charlottestown, part of the American Revolutionary War. In October there is the Ghost Walk Haunted Trail as well as All Hallows Eve Family Day. On November 10, veterans are admitted free of charge, and at the end of the month there is the One Hundred Years of Christmas celebration.

If you visit, you’ll leave knowing more history than when you arrived and probably with more items from the gift shop than anyone really needs.

Historic Latta Plantation is located at 5225 Sample Road, Huntersville, NC 28076; 704-875-2312. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and students, and no charge for children under five.

By Sue Rice ITWPA Member Laguna Beach, California, is host to the Pageant of the Masters living art show, which is held annually. In 2017 the 500 volunteers who man this show will perform nightly at 8:30 p.m. from July 7 through August 31. If you haven’t seen this artistic tribute to the Masters’ paintings, you are missing one of the best art shows in the nation. The paintings you think you see in this outdoor venue aren’t really paintings at all. Each of the Masters’ reincarnations is actually populated by people who are standing very still. What you see is what looks like a well-known painting, but if you wait just 90 seconds, someone will give a signal, and the painting will start to move. Tickets go fast. Call early to reserve a seat (800-487-3378). There are no discounts for seniors and kids under four are not admitted. By Ann Randall ITWPA Member easter_paradeAccording to the French Quarter bartender serving my Sazarac, “the Easter Parade was the brainchild of ‘a well-preserved 80-year-old showgirl and her curated contingent of NOLA [New Orleans, Louisiana] friends.’” My back home NOLA-to-Seattle-expat colleague assured me the Easter parade would illustrate the grand tradition of genteel Southern ladies dressed in their Easter bonnets accompanied by dapper gents in boater hats. And the NOLA pedicab driver described it as the craziest, wildest party in NOLA second only to Mardi Gras. As it turned out all three descriptions were spot on because the New Orleans French Quarter celebrates Easter Sunday in style with not one but three distinctly different parades. Amazingly, not one of my three NOLA sources knew about the entire triumvirate of festivities, which get increasingly more colorful and flamboyant as the day progresses. easter_floatEaster Sunday morning begins with the most traditional of the processions, The Historic French Quarter Easter Parade. Big hats, flowing chiffon, and a sea of seersucker and bow ties are the costume de rigueur as ladies and gentlemen board fancy horse-drawn carriages and convertibles at Antoine’s Restaurant and roll through the streets tossing plush bunnies and candy before disembarking at Jackson Square. There they make their way through the artists, tarot card readers, and unsuspecting tourists strolling with their plastic cups of Bloody Marys to St. Louis Cathedral for 11 a.m. Mass. Post Mass, the celebrants promenade Jackson Square before boarding their buggies and returning to Antoine’s to award prizes for Most Exquisite Chapeaux, Grand Easter Basket, and Regal Attire. easter_hatFollowing that event comes the Chris Owens French Quarter Easter Parade. 2015 was the 32nd time the local icon of Bourbon Street and former showgirl Chris Owens and her merry band of friends and supporters put on this impressive event. It also begins at a local hotel (The Astor Crowne Ballroom) with breakfast, an Easter hat contest, and a silent auction of bidders who want to ride in one of the parade floats. The money from the auction supports music education in NOLA schools. Then the vintage cars, brass bands, dance teams, and floats line up at the corner of Bourbon Street and Canal Street and snake through the French Quarter tossing out beads and Easter-themed trinkets to the crowds. By tradition the parade is led by Ms. Owens, the Grand Duchess (it is her parade, after all), who stands on an extravagant float dressed in a colorful Easter ensemble and bonnet that she designs each year. The final parade, the Annual Gay Easter Parade (the 16th annual in 2015), has all of the trappings, costumes, and extravagance of the earlier processions. There are Easter chapeaux, chiffon, bow ties, and horse-drawn carriages that make the two earlier festivities feel sedate by comparison. There are brass bands, dance teams, and Grand Marshalls. It is a raucous, irreverent, bead-tossing extravaganza that’s a fitting end to an Easter Sunday celebrated as only the French Quarter knows how to celebrate. It’s also a benefit parade with proceeds going to the NO/AIDS Task Force Food for Friends program. By Gary Baker ITWPA Member Photographs by Pam Baker Visiting San Francisco soon? Why not plan your next visit around the Chinese New Year and witness something you may never come across again in your life? San Francisco hosts the largest Chinese New Year parade outside of Asia and a festival that the San Francisco Bay area looks forward to each year with great anticipation. The parade is a visual display of the richness and diversity of the local and regional Asian culture and community. It’s a family affair with parents and elementary school children costumed and organized into representative groups, all marching proudly and happily carrying their decorated banners identifying themselves for all parade observers. serpentineThe highlights of the parade are the many colorful and well-decorated floats and the exotic dragons which serpentine their way down the street, snaking back and forth to the delight of the crowd along the parade route. All with fierce faces, some dragons’ bodies are supported by glowing lanterns under the flowing silk-like material pushed rhythmically up and down by those working under and inside the bodies of the dragons. As dramatic and terrifying as they may appear, this year I saw a dragon stop to kiss a San Francisco police officer on duty along the parade route. It’s all in the family, certainly within the spirit of community, local friendship, and welcoming in the new year. Parade princesses and local politicians wave and give friendly smiles from atop the back seats of luxury and custom convertibles. An entire college marching band in full dress uniform may stop in front of you and play their rousing “fight” song. The myriad of floats, some sponsored by large corporations, dazzle and delight with their bright colors and costumed attendants. The firecrackers and fireworks, set off in rapid, earsplitting sequences in the square across from the bleacher seats, were one of the most dynamic and attention-getting activities of the entire parade. buda_floatIn 2016, the Chinese New Year Parade will be held on Saturday, February 20. The parade begins at 5:15 p.m. at Second and Market Streets and ends on Columbus Avenue, where the parade will disperse. Watch the parade by standing curbside on any of the streets along the route. To get the best ringside seats with an excellent view, purchase bleacher seats ahead of time from the Hilton San Francisco Financial District at 750 Kearney Street or online through Groupon.com. The bleachers are assembled the day of the parade just in front of the hotel, in an ideal location toward the end of the parade route, near the judging stands. The Hilton offers a parade package which includes a guaranteed seat and overnight stay at the hotel plus an opportunity to be in the thick of the excitement. The hotel is home to the San Francisco Chinese Cultural Center and hosts many pre- and post-parade parties. For more information about next year’s parade, visit www.chineseparade.com.
