Bonnie is the Creative Director for Great Escape Publishing, a regular contributor to The Right Way to Travel, and creator of the Breakfast Stock Club, which helps folks to get up-and-running selling their photos in online stock photo agencies. She got her first travel articles and photos published after attending the Ultimate Travel Writer's Workshop six summers ago in her hometown of Portland, Oregon. Before joining Great Escape Publishing, she taught English in the South of France and vagabonded through South America and South East Asia, dutifully testing all of the local foods and massage techniques.

Don't book a hotel room when you can rent an apartment! It tends to be cheaper, offers more room, and lets you live like a local, with a kitchen and living area. Recently, some friends and I found a cute apartment right in the middle of Paris with a balcony for half the price we would have paid for a hotel room in the city. I like to use Airbnb.com or Vrbo.com to book.
The most successful stock photographers almost never get photo rejections from agencies. It happens, but not that often. Is it because their photos are always perfect? No. It’s because they have a few tricks up their sleeve. And one of those tricks is called downsizing. Here are three of the top reasons photos get rejected from […]
Last week, stock photographer Danny Warren told us about the “adventure selfies” he takes to sell as stock. See a few of them here. If you have a tripod, I highly recommend taking selfies for stock. Awhile back, I asked readers to share their experiences with stock photography in our annual Breakfast Stock Club survey. Since then, so many readers have shared their accomplishments with me. I find it inspiring, so I thought you might, too. When you’re plugging away at big goals, it’s helpful to take a little break […]
Last week, I shared my personal top three goals for 2016. This week, it’s your turn. Looking through our Breakfast Stock Club reader survey responses and reading your goals on Facebook truly inspires me. Most responses revolved around the ideas of MORE and IMPROVING. Taking more photos, taking better photos, uploading more images, joining more stock agencies, improving […]
Happy Holidays! I don’t know about you, but for me the holidays are always a bit of a blur between the get-togethers, the gifts, the endless cookies and the eggnog — which gets a little extra blurry with a little splash of bourbon. Speaking of blurry… let’s talk about a fun photo trick you can […]
Taking seasonal photos early is great for a couple of reasons: When you put seasonal photos on your stock sites early, you tend to make more money. It’s fun to have something to photograph when you’re out of ideas. We’ve created a fun printable stock photo guide of what to shoot when, and you’ll find […]

Truthfully, I believe the old wood background helped.” Royalties and fine art sales have […]
