Noreen Kompanik came to our Ultimate Travel Writer’s Workshop as the guest of a friend.

Before then, she didn’t know what travel writing was or how to become a travel writer. In the next 12 months, Noreen sold 45 travel stories… and is looking forward to many more adventures (and by-lines) when she retires from her nursing career later this year.

Noreen says, “Though I admit I’m still a rookie travel writer on a voyage of discovery, I’ve learned two valuable lessons. First, relationships with editors are crucial. Write a good story, deliver on time, be honest and fair, and you’ll build goodwill…

“Secondly, if you’re unsure how to proceed in a situation, don’t be afraid to ask for expert advice. You are never alone. You’re part of a professional network.”
