Since we’re heading to Hershey, PA this month for AWAI’s first-ever pet photography workshop, I thought to name this month’s photo challenge theme “Fins, Fangs, Feathers, and Fur.” If you’ve got a picture of Fido or Fluffy, I want to see it.  Submissions can include: ** farm animals ** pets ** exotic birds ** zoo animals ** wild animals on safari ** water creatures ** or anything else you can think of with either a fin, fangs, feathers or fur. Keep in mind the various tips for composition and lighting you’ve learned so far through these weekly photo tips. I encourage you to go back through our archives at www.thephotographerslife.com and read some of the critiques of previous months’ entries. You’ll gain some useful insights about what differentiates a winning photo from one that’s just ok. Cute snapshots aren’t going to cut it. For this theme, you need a big WOW factor — something a little unusual. Submit your best shot.  This is your last chance to get into the grand prize $2,000 challenge in October. Submissions for September’s challenge are due by 8:00 a.m. EST on Monday, October 1.  You can submit your photos by clicking on the “Enter to Win” tab on our website: www.thephotographerslife.com. Look for a list of August winners in next week’s Photo Tip.
