“There are two sides to travel writing—the income side and the side of loving what you do, the side that makes you wake up happy every day.” – Lori Allen
Great Escape Radio host, Jody Maberry, and Director, Lori Allen, bring Gwyn Goodrow back for a second time as a guest on Great Escape Radio. You can listen to our last episode with Gwyn here.
Gwyn was one of the travel writers on the success panel at the 2017 Ultimate Travel Writing Workshop in Washington DC. She spoke about a moment when things went from being about the nuts and bolts of travel writing to being about the heart of travel writing.
“There are two sides to travel writing—the income side and the side of loving what you do. The side that makes you wake up happy every day,” says Lori.
Gwyn has discovered both sides and she shares her story with us.
Listen in to hear how meeting a cat named Mrs. Bentley in a New Orleans rug shop led Gwyn to the realization that the true heart of travel writing are the connections she makes with people along the way.
She also shares with us what it was like being on the success panel just one short year after being a new attendee at the workshop and how she benefitted from being at the workshop a second time.
Gwyn’s husband is also interested in travel writing and attended this past year’s workshop in Washington DC. She shares with us how they plan to incorporate their mutual love of travel and travel writing into their lives individually and as a team.
