This week AWAI is hosting its travel writing workshop right here in my home town of Portland, Oregon.
And since both writers and photographers are encouraged to explore their hometown as a first step into either field, I would like to challenge you to do the same for this month’s photo challenge theme — Home Sweet Home.
Get out there and explore your town or city as a tourist might.
Even if your town is only one block long, I bet there is something interesting… something that is symbolic of the town or area… something unique, special, or something that just carries the essence of the place, evoking a mood or feeling.
Photos could include:
* important landmarks
* favorite restaurants
* local people
* your favorite watering hole
* interesting welcome signs
* local customs
* local events
* or pretty much anything quirky or specific to your town.
Remember… adding people is always a plus and I am sure every town has its characters of interest. Show us yours.
Submissions for this month’s challenge are due by 8:00 a.m. EST on Monday, August 28, 2007. You can submit your photos by clicking on the “Enter to Win” tab on our website: www.thephotographerslife.com.
